Default Unknown Car companies in India and Abroad

Dear all,

Any idea how is this company performing. It makes an MPV loosely based on the Renault Espace in 1998 called the KAZWA! here's the link to their website

::: KAJAH MOTORS PVT LTD :::

The idea of starting this thread is to discuss a Few Unknown Car Companies and how they are Faring now...because some or the other day, they would enter the Indian market as the NAZA is doing now.

I was always a big fan of the Kazwa's looks, ever since I saw one more than a decade ago. Pity they had to stop it. They should have handed over the entire operation over to HM, who could have handled the marketing and service better than them.

Kazwa was shown on the Mammooty - Mohanlal - Juhi Chawla movie "Harikrishnans". Unluckily both the movie and the car failed. It was indeed a good effort by Kajah Motors who are well known car collectors. The idea of kit cars didn't take off.

Another person who tried this route was famous Karivardhan of Coimbatore. Kari Kit cars was his project. Dont know whether it still exists.

Kajah motors is owned rajah bidi works some famous bidi maker in kerela i suppose.....Isuzu engined kazwa would have been a good competiton to innova if it was there till now , since it was priced somewhere around 6 lacs at time of launch..
they also launched a ugly looking pick up loosely based on hm trekker..

How about the makers of Chinkara roadster. They have replica's of WW-II jeep and AC-Cobra, however dont see any details on the net. AC Cobra is one of my favourite cars along with the Caterham 7 (Chinkara inspiration)

Is this the one made by the German gentleman and his spouse? The car has good fit and finish, but it is not practical to own one.

Does HM enjoy playing mentor to the Indian "Cottage Car Industry"?

. Lancia Stratos was a very popular race car for rallying in 70's and 80's.

May be the current models might not be of much fancy, but some of their models does pack some punch. Lancia doesnt suit to be in this thread. (IMHO)

slight correction- i dont think lancia is unknown, they were rally champs in the Bsegment with their power sledges - the Stratos! killer machines!

the chinkara (spelling?) was an inspiration, and i believe the German Indian couple have been able to make some. it was featured in some auto expo, and a magazine did review it and gave a positive feedback. I guess the practicality would depend on the way you see it. It would definitely make up the quintessential weekend car, but not the everyday car!

I think you also forgot its more famous brother the Lancia Delta Integrale - Winner of 2 WRC championship's during the '90's & the precursor to the 4wd Rally based road cars (like the Evo & Scooby today) And it is one of my all-time favourite cars.

P.S. I know there were earlier Road cars based on rally machines but this was the first mainstream car which was not produced in limited numbers for homologation purposes but was mass produced.
