Mahindra-Renault-Nissan to open manufacturing unit in Chennai - Team-BHP

Mahindra-Renault-Nissan will be investing in a plant that they will be sharing for production of their vehicles. Mahidra-Renault will be selling their vehicles through a joint venture company and through their own dealers. While Nissan will have their own dealers to sell their brand of cars.

Oragadam is a place near chennai were the Indian Automotive research/test center is being constructed. Some major growth is expected in this area. This place is close to the Chennai-Bangalore G-QUAD.

Sign of the times, i guess. India is going to be a major auto component manufacturing hub & chennai is going to be in the eye of the storm.

Looks like things are moving in the right direction on this one. Bajaj is promising a Nano competitor by 2011 (that far ?)
