Logically should be around 25-30L. Any higher & it would be a hard sell.

Aaah.

So... here's a logical question. Enthusiasts on this forum LOVE the EVO and would buy it in a minute if they had 30L for a car.

But they don't.

So the guy who has 30L to spend on a car is the CEO that takes it to his office. A good chance that he won't be driving himself either.

So what will the CEO buy for 30L? A really quick Lancer? I don't think so. MO.

In India, the kid that can enjoy the EVO cannot afford one. And the EVO enthusiasts that can afford a 30L EVO are not enough to sustain introducing a new model into India.

Well not many people who want a quick motorcycle can afford the 11L R1 either, so what's the point introducing it? Well (you know this better than me Sam) it's all about a halo product and God know HM/Mitsu need one to bring back some sales into their fold.

While the EVO will not sell in big numbers at least it'll bring a buzz for their brand & lead to higher footfalls to their showrooms. That is one of the reasons why Yamaha is getting the R1 & the MT-01 to India.

I will sell my soul to the devil if I have to but *I will buy it* . If mitsu can find 100 more like me, they have a market.

They are different. They share the same design cues and so on. OMG how could you not know of the EVO X!

The title: "New Mitsubishi Lancer. When will it come to India"
inspired a flurry of thought. And Sam Kapasi's perspective about
the Rs. 30,00,000 price tag also struck a note of concord.

With the Nano, Tata has set India's (nay even world's) expectations
of how low a car could really be sold for, in the present day.

If Tata can field a Nano for Rs. 1,00,000
Then realistically, what can they now field
for Rs. 2,00,000?
for Rs. 4,00,000?
for Rs. 8,00,000?
for Rs. 16,00,000?

Do you get my drift?

The VFM expectations of the country have been changed forever.
25-30 lakh? -- sounds like an anachronism -- outdated.

Foreign manufacturers who once dumped into India,
a car or truck at two or more times the price it was really worth,
will no longer be welcome in India -- neither their brains nor factories nor their cars, nor their inflated prices.

The market's value for money paradigm, just changed irreversibly.

For Lancer to get any respectable volume sales in India, they will have to sell no dearer than they sell in the rest of the world, and maybe cheaper.

Your viewpoints, welcome please.

Yes, the new lancer is lifted right off the EVO X in terms of design and looks save a few extra bits here and there. But the pics posted are of the new lancer and not the evo x.

I have seen the car in Germany in a Mitsu showroom. The one I have seen is a black colored one and it looked very good. It is a diesel one and has 6 forward gears. The price around 25000 euros. The price of a Passat high end is around 38000 euros here in Germany. So if we can compare these two then it should cost around 17lakhs in India. If they launch at this price I think it will be sold in good numbers.

The price I mentioned in my previous post for a pre-owned car, which was registered on Nov 2007. I will collect the exact price next time and post it.
Following is the link for the same.
