I think you have got your answer. The properties and function are similar, but the product is different.

True, and her admirers would still want her, in spite of minor irritants like drunken, topless ex-boyfriends

But at the end of the day, in a value-concious society like ours, there are few people who would be passionate enough to go for high-maintainence 'items' in real life.

[quote=goldie_malhotra]The most over-rated and under-rated cars would be Palio/Siena etc.. - over-rated by the owners and under-rated by the general public.

Own it to believe it.
I don't think any of the owners over rated the car.

Over rated:

1. All Hyndai cars. (Pity we indians buy it so much)
Heard what the journos had to say about the Sonata? BLAH WOW BLAH WOW BLAH... I Never found any of their claims to be satisfying after the test drive. How can I sit in car which is every bit copied from my neighbour's one?

2. New GM cars.
These are Korean (or expired japanese) cars with an American Brandname, an Australian Engine (or 'never heard of from where' engines), a european design, and made exclusively to fool people.

3. Skoda Laura.
This is just the Old Octavia. It should've been launched as the new Octy. But again, (Blame Maruti for teaching this) They also want to keep their old model as long as it sells rather then replacing it with a more better, cheaper and newer models. Only TOYOTA had the courage to do such a thing by replacing Qualis with INNOVA.

4. Scorpio.
It's not a good vehicle! (cant accept it to be called a car) Period!

5. All BMWs.
These cars bring joy to heart while driving, But the joy wont last.
Beleive me, They're not worth paying that extra money. I myself used an M3 while in South africa. It used to be VERY expensive to maintain and used to give nagging problems after every hard driving sessions. The same was the experience with many of my friends too. Buying a BMW is for sheer driving pleasure! And if it cant sustain it, then to hell with it. Now, the designs add up to it's hate list.

Under rated
:

1. Suzuki Baleno.
It will be the winner in being underrated. Everybody knows the reasons.

2. Suzuki Alto.
Journos try to squash it. But it's just a good small car.

3. LandCruiser Prado.
Very high price?? But find me another better equipped SUV with an excellent Service Backup.

4. Skoda Superb.
It's a better alternative to the Eclass. And buy yourself a Honda CRV with the loose change.

5. TOYOTA CAMRY.
It's expensive! But worth every penny when compared to the C class. The C is only suitable for youngsters with a lot money. The snob value of this Merc is not worth the legspace and comfort you sacrifice for.

I think the most over rated 4 wheeler is the Ford Endeavor. It is a truck, powered by a half starved Mazda engine. The Ford Explorer is an economy SUV in America and when it was brought to India (with a smaller engine & less features) it’s being sold in the luxury market.

Yeah I really agree with you.

About the qualis being overrated, yeah It is not a personal car???? but man it is reliable. Ask the tour operators who ply them at the call centers. They just love it.

Scorpio Hmm I have think about it. Well what ever the PR/Media says, I would never accept it as a car. But have you ever driven a armada?? or commander?? or any other mahindra??? If you have you can understand it is a praise worthy mahindra. We really needed a good modern Jeep. Yeah it has its shortcomings, but it is far better than other mahindras, and the new one even has coil springs for the rear.

Most underrated, yeah I love this Versa, it really should have been a replacement for the tiffin box Omni. But alas, maruti dug its own grave with the price.

Baleno, nice and fantastic car, kicked my friends "new Esteem" again maruti thought they can get more money out of people by selling a car that should have been a replacement as another car and charging too much.

Esteem the most overrated car. We Proud Indians can never leave our habit. It it ain't Broke Don't Fix It. we are rather obcessed with these words. We should have stopped bying 800 Esteem Zen, to force the company to come out with some thing new.
