Then you are new to T-BHP. There is an excellent review on Optra 1.8 with super quality pictures to go with it.

Sad but true! Optra is one of the best possible luxury options in its segment (1.6), but now with onslaught of new cars like Verna/Fiesta/Aveo, it appears to have taken a backseat.

OPTRA has one of the best ride and comfort. It also has that luxury appeal which few cars in INDIA posses.
CHEVROLET needs to bring in diesel motor and newer variants to bring back OPTRAs popularity.

Under rated - Hyundai (Embera, Tuscon, Terracan, Elantra), Mitsubishi
Over rated - Mercedes Benz, Hyundai (Verna)

Merc is very very over rated in India. People talk as if its something great and nothing comes close to it. They are good cars, but there are even better cars at the same price or way less.

KARTHIK247 : HYUNDAIs C+ and D segment models are underrated.
But, its bread and butter SANTRO and ACCENT to some extent are definately hyped to the core.

Agree with the Honda city part.
But Ikon = under rated ? Man, it is all over the place in various specs (Flair, 1.6, 1.8 etc).

hey supremebaleno , its just that whenever someone mentions about buying a flair ,most ppl advise against it stating expensive maintenance etc. I own one myself and am so in love with it ,one and a half years and total money spent is rs 2500.Drove it for 1150 kms non stop and absolutely no problems ,infact I would say that the seats were the most comfortable ever ..didnt feel any discomfort atall and it drove like a dream.

Nice that u think its not underrated

It's not just me that thinks that - I am sure most in this forum would agree. Underrated in this thread context would mean a car which has not been accepted by the Indian market. Going by this meaning, the Ikon is not underrated as it has had pretty good sales and is still selling in the Flair version.

You do have a point here. When people post their opinions about a car, it is either from their own experience or relative to another car/brand with which they have experience. So, when it comes to the Flair, the comparo is relative to its peers like the Esteem (and in some cases even the lowest Accent version). While the Flair has an upper hand when it comes to newer looks, the Esteem wins when it comes to being quicker, FE, low maintenance, A.S.S etc. Eventually it depends on the buyer to analyze all the pros and cons and go for the car which appeals most to him. Some would not mind sacrificing FE or A.S.S for a car which otherwise appeals to them. To each his own.
