Default Funny thing is I have both the cars to this day?!

Without a doubt in my mind the most over rated car in India is the Junkindica and the most under rated car here is the Palio GTX.
I have both and when one compares the cost to maintain both a true unfailing picture emerges as to the answer to this forum thread. The only saving grace for the Junkindica is the paint quality which is good ( at least it so in my car) and the ability to drive it in the city with a devil may care attitude about ramrodding it into other erring motorists. The venerable Willy's Jeep is the best at ramrodding and the next comes the Padmini which I sold of last year.

Bye and wear your seat belts.

definately HONDA CITY deserves to be overrated. The OHC came with an engine ,which is praised even today.
The NHC , comes with futuristic looks and the comfort, which is way ahead of many sedans.
And coming to BALENO and ELANTR, both cars were initially sold at a premium, and this made these cars a FLOP in the market, and therby , was highy underated , for the reasons mentioned .

I thought the same, but then paid more attention to the word "deserves". That explains his post. ("deserves to be overrated" sounds like oxymoron to me though).

NO. what i am trying to say is that , HONDA city shouldn't e called overrated because it is very much capable machine, for the parameters already mentioned.
IMO, a car can be called overrated, only when it doesn' t deliver to the hype .In that case HONDA city ,is credible for the hype.

May I know which sedans? I found Baleno's suspension better, fiesta and aveo are leagues ahead, high speed stability is nothing to talk about. Its a competitive car but not leagues ahead of its competitors, infact its a notch below but then its a HONDA, we indians are kinda obsessed with (No offence to anyone).

Yes, even i got confused. He should have said " NHC definetly does not deserve to be "overrated" " and i guess thats what he meant but put it affably

What an awesome thread?! Here's my list

Most Overrated:
I'd have liked to put all Indica and Indigo diesel variants here but seriously, at the price points they come at, they cannot attract too much complaint. The real list:
Maruti Esteem
Maruti Zen (all variants) - the Indian market obsession with this vehicle beats me,
Maruti WagonR - Most cramped car per rupee spent
Chevrolet Optra - Feels like an old dad's car
Ford Fusion - terrible drive quality for all that hoohah
Fost Fiesta 1.4 - sluggish. You get as much pleasure in an Indigo Petrol
Chevrolet Tavera - should only be sold as Taxis
Mahindra Scorpio - Flawed design. Too wide and not enough legroom for all rows. Overpriced for a vehicle that is so badly put together

Most Underrated:
Fiat Palio - Classic Hatchback
Fiat Palio Adventure 1.6DOHC - Fantastic power and drive except for a little oversteer
Hyundai Elantra CRDi - even better now with the discounts
Chevrolet Aveo 1.4 - Excellent design and finish on this one. A great drive too.

Most overrated according to me would be Ford Ikon - I hate the rear suspension of that damned thing. Except for the 1.6, the diesel, EXI and CLXI versions have an awful engine ( A 58 bhp SOHC for around 6.5 lacs??? )

Add to the overrated list - Hyundai Accent (Again, a sad engine), Hyundai Santro (For almost the same reasons, engine and suspension)

The most underrated cars being Fiat Palio, Fiat Uno, Maruti Baleno.

My thoughts -
Most underrated - Baleno ...... Would not mind if it continues to be underrated if they (Maruti) drop the price even more so that I can then buy it!!!

You mean too long right? The width compared to the height of the car is one of the biggest basic problems of the Scorpio, haven't really heard people complain about the width otherwise.
