My Opinion:

Overrated:
  1. Scorpio
  2. WagonR
  3. NHC (I Don't like the shape)
  4. Swift (Nothing wrong with the car. But fed-up with seeing 10 Swift's every 5 minutes)
Underrated:
  1. Lancer
  2. Chevy SR-V
  3. Zen

Not at all. They aren't over-rated but they get as much attention as they deserve. Probably a bit more.

Regards.

M800: Small, efficient, well-priced... essential brought the four wheeler to the common man. If there is one car that deserves all the applause, it is this one.

Zen: Again... all that M800 had and more.

Sumo: Great people mover! Made a lot of sense for very large families.

Qualis: IMO this was the car that brought down the highway traveling times. One of the best taxis ever, people still swear by them.

Chevy Spark: Practical city hatch, easy to drive and relatively niggle free.

Sorry buddy, but i disagree. i have no problems with your opinion that the scorpio is over rated but i do disagree on the part written in bold.

What did you exactly mean by that? you are comparing the scorpio to the international SUVs? can you name any other decent 7-8 seater SUV with 4WD below 12 lakhs except scorpio & safari?

budget matters dude! you just cannot compare these SUVs to the international SUVs. take a look at how much they cost too! you cant compare a rolls royce to a dzire since both seat 5 & both are sedans, can you?

the cheapest "international" SUV you get in India is the endy or fortuner & that costs almost twice to that of our indian scorpio.

Hardly anyone buys 800 or Sumo anymore. But when people used to, it was just because there wasn't anything better in that price range. And if I remember correctly,is was the Qualis that took over the Sumo.

Zen and Qualis deserve all the credit they are generally given. Sure they weren't perfect but they were fantastic in quite a few things. No doubt the game has moved on and so comparing it with modern hatches like Beat and comparing Qualis to Innova isn't very clever.

Ask a taxi owner in any small town about what he has to say about a Qualis, and you'll see a happy man even after his qualis has clocked around 4 lakh kms.

Nano is a good city runabout and an excellent 2nd or 3rd car. But I do agree it is a bit over-rated for it has a lot of short comings and costs a lot more than the much oohed and aahed 1 lakh price tag.

Spark and WagonR too make for good choices if one does not have Ritz/Beat kinda budget.

+1 to it.

Buddy: I respect your opinion, but could you please help me understand why do you think Ikon is overrated.

1. International brand at affordable price.
2. Generous room.
3. Best in class handling.
4. Reliability can be compared with best in the industry. (Which brand doesn't have a no breakdown history)

Even now you get Ikon Tdci at 6.5L which is a real VFM for whatever it offers.

Otherwise:

Swift: After M800, i think this was the next game changer in its class.

Sumo: Ask the cab drivers they would tell you why they pick up sumo. Any other alternative at 5L ?

Pajero: I salute this vehicle for its off-road capabilities. But, do you think this vehicle justifies the price tag it carries for 30Yr old Engine ?

IMO.

Most Overrated:

ANHC = Nothing outstanding apart from the engine and H badge.
Fortuner = It's an MUV with 4x4 capabilities with looks of an highly capable SUV.
Estilo = Don't know why people buy one!
DZire = Why people pay so much for just a boot, that too the ugliest one!!

Most Underrated:
Indica Vista QJD
Indigo Manza
Spark
Cedia
