Great! Actually I like the look. May be it's high time to replace our 800.

Thumbs down What's so special about Spark?

Spark has lost its spark. It won't turn heads anymore and looks dated now. GM is launching it a few years late already. I am not sure if it would repeat it's success story though.
Nothing much to get excited about, the only factor should be it's pricing, which must be competitive enough and in the range of alto/santro/zen.

Too much hype for a grand old design !

It will any day be more better looking than the so-called 'stylish' Zen christened the Estilo.

I happenned to have a good look at Zen Estilo yesterday at our company's parking. Side and rear profile is OK but the front is as if the car is unsuccessfully trying to smile. Long drooping face like a horse (my thought).

To my knowledge Spark would be launched with >1 litre engine with sufficient torque and power. I believe the gear **** quality would be better than that on estilo (can't go worse than that). Lets see if they have changed the dimension of the car as well. Ideally they should as all cars now a days have decent luggage storage.

Whatever happens, the price would not be threatening to Maruti. Cos Maruti has well established vendor base and they have been in small car business for long time. The entire procurement process is very polished and economized. It would be really hard for GM to beat them in this department.

More like the rear of the previous Matiz, I'd say.

Isn't the Japanese Suzuki a superior brand to the Korean Daewoo?

The Estilo may be branded Maruti and the Spark may be branded Chevrolet.
But isn't it still Japanese vs. Korean in design, materials used, safety construction and quality.

I seem to remember that the Matiz body flexed so badly, it needed a strut brace from the factory.

And will there be a 69-70 BHP 4-cylinder motor at last
or will the old 796 cc 3-banger soldier on ?
Citicars are only about suburban fuel-frugality, so maybe the 796 cc 3-cyl. is right!

Here is a kewl lookin' two-door road scraper Chevrolet Matiz/Spark.
Guaranteed to scrape the speed-breakers off !

No way, i think GM will be able to compete with maruti on pricing...

I think the selling point of the Spark 'has' to be the build quality... A good tough build, and rattle free interiors... Cause, pricing and fuel economy are Maruti's strong points.... The general 'public' feels maruti's are better off at FE...

Two points:

1. Buyers from this segment do not necessarily care about the "latest". What they want is a low price, FE, space and reliability.

2. What they also want is great after-sales service! How will GM be able to cater to the potential volume sales; They have like 2 dealerships in mumbai and only overworked one covering Shivaji Park to Cuffe Parade.
