I even say this HYG on an maruti...I was shocked. Can someone tell me what HYG standa for???/ saw this at Gurgaon. As far as I know, haryana should stand for HR, as I myself had a HR car once.

HYG stands for a perfectly legal registration number of yesteryears. HR = Haryana & G= Gurgaon, this was the way numbers used to be long back. So if you saw a old maruti with HYG XXXX plates that could be quite in order.

Cheers

I think the cars with foreign num plates are the ones brought down on CARNET. There was a hummer running around here with dubai plates.

Many a times there are series reserved for government bodies. Like in chennai (IIRC) all public transport busses of the Metropolitan TRansport Corporation are all TN - 01 - N - XXXX irrespective of the years of purchase / mfg
And similarly- I was told - all Governemtn cars are TN - XX - G - XXXX

Today's Mumbai Mirror has a picture of two cars belonging to the MNS Party, wearing the exact same number plate!

Yeh, that was funny. It says the cars were standing next to each other, how dumb can people actually be parking cars with identical number plates next to each other.

Were both the cars the same make and model as well?

Typically, politicians having high security do have multiple cars of the same make and model with the same number to be used in the convoy to deceive any threat. Don't ask me whether that's legal or not. I don't know.

I have seen this here in Hyderabad. Could it be a similar case with these cars from MNS?

Cheers,

+1. I too noticed in CMs convoy there are atleast 2 black safaris with exactly same number plate. I think it is allowed for head of the state for security purposes.
