Isn't that going out of production soon?

Regarding mine choice, it has to fit into Indian road (rules out Acura TL), yet be sporty and reliable.

I know, the Lexus IS 300. That's what I want... Local Toyota service station can probably service it.

For 30 lakhs (pre-duty) I'd buy an M3, no question about it! That car is perfect for me in every conceivable way! Too bad we can't get duty waivers like some people can!

Second choice would be an FQ340 Evo VIII!

Oh well, that's what dreams are for!

My choice definately will be a sports car ehile keeping all these conditions in mind. My choice would be a Lotus Elise or the new Exige......but IF the tax men come running after me then id change my coice to a more sober pre-owned 2003/2004 Mercedes-Benz E220 or a pre owned BMW 5 Series. I so wish this would come true.

Hey can we include bikes in that option list as well please please....if yes, then bye bye cars....make way for either a 2001/2002 Suzuki Hayabusa or a good Ducati 996

Cheers!!!

A 4 door sedan for me too. Was thinking of the M5 as ideal in that category until GTO brought us back down to earth. In 30L, I'd go for an EVo or an M3.

Revvmaster, why the 106? I think a Clio would be a much better option!

Here are the conditions:
1. You live in India.
2. You are NOT a multi-multi-multi-millionaire [so no exotics like ferrari's lambo's]
3. You travel atleast 30 kms a day 6 days a week.
4. Its your choice whether to drive or be driven.
5. The roads are like Mumbai. Some good, some bad. Some empty, some badly jammed.
6. You have 30 lakhs ONLY to spend on the car. [ONLY 1 CAR. It can be Indian or imported. Like Sachin you are exempted from paying duty.]
Please be practical while making a choice. Do not just go for speed and performance.
For these conditions what would be YOUR ideal[along with the name of the car] choice :
In my book, someone who can afford 30 lakhs on a car IS a multi-multi-multi-millionaire!

Anyways, to answer your question : if I had 30 lakhs to spend on a car, I would buy two cars.

1) A BMW 1-series (118d or 120d), or maybe a VW Golf Mark V GTI (once the 150 BHP GTI TD version is released). That would come to about $30,000 or half of my 30 lakhs budget.

2) A Subaru Outback 2.5 or 3.0 (or if that overshoots the remaining budget I would buy a new Forester locally for 13 lakhs).

So now I have two cars and still a lakh or two left over, which I will spend on some cool acessories.

I would definately import the fastest endeavour available and mod it for more power.
Remember guys this is India and there are plenty of autos and cabbies and bad roads available.
Even the landcruiser prado sounds good or an E39 M5...

Any SUV souds good in India but if your in a hatch then you will have the advantage of getting in and out in traffic jams

Its either the BMW M3 CSL or the e46 M3. I dont know if the CSL is in the budget...hence the second choice.
