Post Swift to get M Series engine

According to ACI, Suzuki plans to phase out the G series engines with M and K series ones.

The Swift's G series engine will be replaced by the M15A engine and K series engines(1-1.2L) will power the next generation of Suzuki's small cars. WagonR in Japan uses the K10A, a 996cc DOHC motor.

These engines can meet Euro IV norms and beyond. Only in China and India the Swift uses a G series else it uses a M series 1.5L VVT engine.

Wish they had plonked in the Baleno engine into the Swift... Would have made for a real fun- to drive, with nice FE...

Although this idea seems better, wont the price go up??? As far as i know, the engine for SX4 too is brought in, right???

What sort of time frame are we looking at for release?

Within the next 3 months? I am looking at booking a swift and the new engine would be perfect. How long should I wait.

The SX4 engine is completely imported engine, however MUL plans to start production of the M16A engine in the Manesar plant soon.

@ Raja _ NO idea how long you should wait but MUL is too busy concentration of the Swift D and the SX4 and the soon to be launched Vitara and SX4 DDIS

One thing is for sure. The new engine Swift is not going to come any time soon. It may take atleast 2 years atleast. Hoewever, the WagonR is all due for an Engine change, and the K series may find its way into the WR before the Swift getting the M series.
