Default M&M planning cheaper scorpio, 1.5L less

Saw in one of the news tickers, M&M is planning a cheaper version of bread and butter model Scorpio. It will be powered by 2000cc engine and be fuel efficient by 1-2 Km. compared to the current version. It will be priced 1.5L less than the current price.
I think, that is great news, if the 2000cc engine will be able produce enough power to provide the almost similar drivability as the current one. With that price, I'm sure, we are gonna see lot of scorpios on the road. They are planning to launch this during oct-nov time frame or rather around festival season.

I think its already out there in select markets called the scorpio M2DI,targeted mainly for the tourist segment.
Dont know what has been the response for this vehicle in those markets though.

I too agree, it is going to be M2DI. Reduction in price by 1.5L, will definately attract lot Taxi/Tour operators. I think, with this, Engine, scorpio is sure to loose its lifestyle tag.

Nopes. Its best left to just 2 people in the last row, last time i checked.

That aside, no more will i want to purchase a Scorpio.

Then the Sumo Victa is a much better option for the Taxi market/Call centers.

BTW, the CRDe Scorpio is a big hit with Gurgaonites. The combination of Corolla and Scorpio is the hot favourite with the corporate families here. Dont know why!

No offence. But more Scorpio's on the road is great news? ...

Sorry, but I probably have stereotyped (Bad) impression of a typical Scorpio driver. Almost every on-road observation of a Scorpio being driven consists of it lurching around causing all round uneasiness among fellow road users. Whether its a problem with the driver (rather his ego) or the vehicle itself, I dont know.

Wasting time and energy? No.
This will help bring in volumes for them, probably.

However, what will happen for sure is that they would lose out on sales of the SLX version, as not many will want to be seen in a vehicle which carries a cab image. Not when they have spent about 11 lakhs on it.

High GC - A look at the approachways to their high-end apartments will tell you the story.

Having read this, it looks like M&M would reduce the Scorpio to the M2Di tag - for taxi use. And that 2.2 crde (Eagle) on the block may be rebranded into a notch higher with bells and whistles. What say?

it will be good competition to Safari 2.2, or even 3 lts because then scorpio will be cheaper than its current price.

In germany the taxi segment is dominated by the E220cdi, AND,
the private luxury segment by the E350 or E270cdi.!!!
the cab image is linked to the size of the engine/motor in the car!!!--mature market is it??
