Once i drove a Scorpio inside Delhi, It was fun bullying ppl around n sometimes in a SUV u don't need to ask ppl in traffic for space infact they make way for u...

Voted for car, as somebody pointed out, for reasons of practicality (in Indian road conditions) and cost. It would take more time to get from point A to point B in an SUV, given the heavy traffic and narrow roads that we normally encounter. You could get stuck in traffic jams in an SUV, whereas a small car may squeeze through. Parking space is a serious problem for SUVs on narrow crowded roads. I definitely will not be able to park an SUV on the street that I park my Santro in every week next to my apartment in Mumbai; often there is only one parking slot available on the entire road and my Santro squeezes in with very small clearance in front and back. Large families may prefer an SUV, if they can afford to buy and maintain it.

For all those guys who own a car & wish for a SUV : If the reason why you need a SUV is because your cars are being pushed to a corner & jostled out by the cabbies in their sumos & qualises, I don't think that is the right attitude. i have an esteem & i had a bolero for a year (My cousin's). Initially i loved the respect it commanded on the road. All the cars used to shy away as if the bolero was on a prowl looking for virgins. But then there is a lot of difference between the way we drive & the way the cab drivers do. So i request you to get that thought out of your system & enjoy your rides.

BTW, i would love to own a SUV also for the simple reason that it would provide that much more space to carry all that you can when you go on a holiday, not for anything else.
