Sad news fellas

The Fiat 1.6 GTX Palio is no more. Asked for test drive at the dealership and he told us production stopped long back towards end 2002 . I and GTO were really shocked. Sad day for us car guys.

Rest in peace

what ?!!!!!!!!

maan this is bad news !!!!!!

before buying the ikon , i test drove the palio from angad fiat. and the test car came with the number plate bearing 911 , and when i finished the test drive i was sure that the palio was the car i was gonna take. but then shifting upwards from a santro...i belatedly decided on the ikon.

but thats sad news maan , that the 1.6 gtx is no more !!!!

ps- the 911 numbered palio (white) is driven by the owner now and he has given it the treatment ..free flow .skirts , knn filter ...the works. you can find him at chembur barista almost every evening.

as long as they are around in the second hand market, they would be going for very cheap. now only if my dad knew the importance of the gtx to me, he would have gifted me on my 18 th birthday, or better still buy a second hand one right now

Guys,

After seeing the San Storm, the Palio felt like a C CLass, if not an S. Me and dippy were keen to make the most of the afternoon, and unleash a 100 Italian horses on teh worli seaface. Butttttttttttttt....

The Palio has been out of production since 2002 now, and the only pieces that have been sold are obviously old stock. Imagine this, Fiat would have not built more than a couple of 1.6's per month and it has taken them more than two years to sell them!! What a disgrace for such an amazing car. Indian small car buyers really need to be educated on the pros and cons of an automobile, but then do they? The Palio does offer class-leading space, ride quality, handling and power but the rate is faster than a concorde from London to NY! The after-sales service is horrible to say the least (atleast from what I have seen at two dealers in Bbay).

In India, as in most parts of the world, a car is the second largest investment one makes after a house. As such, I dont see too many people investing in a product of a very troubled company.

Sad news, Team-BHP is going to miss the Palio 1.6 GTX - Indias only true hot hatch!

Guys I think Palio 1.6 is still available but it is delivered against orders only . You can still get Palio 1.6 2002 models at around 4.5 on road

Yes Rtech told us the same thing, after confirming with a dealer. But Shaman insisted that it is not possible. I think Fiat salespersons need to be better informed.

yup, Shaman are idiots (pardon my french). i actually spoke to a dealer in Pune who seemed really nice and gave me the good news about the 1.6. Fiat should really update their site, as the only car you fins there is the Palio NV. Its like they don't want to sell the 1.6!! No mention of the Petra (ugh) either.

Maybe its like a Rolls Royce...don't need no advertising!

Hmmmmm....thats a scary thought! I'm thinking about a used 1.6, but not is it is prone to rust. I wonder if your's is a one off case, because I haven't seen a Palio yet with rust anywhere.

Any other Palio owners out here who can share their experiences?

Also, how does Rs.2.5 lakhs sound for a 2001, 30,000K GTX PS?? Although it did have an accident and the rear hatch was replaced by the dealer. Is that price about right?

Fiat brand image in India is the case for its poor sales..People often relate it to the Premier Padmini, affectionately called 'Fiat'.

If Fiat, even today, can improve the after sales service to the customers, the sales will improve..Palio has the potential of being a best seller in its class, if only...

Another loser was the Astra which had terific build and was awesome in handling....But sadly Opel didn't..........

if there is no problem with the car then jus go for it.
if the quality of work done is good then no problems otherwise bargain.
yes the car is rust proof.
i think it was just one odd case.
enjoy

Hey Rtech,

See if you can get some pictures of the car in its bashed up state. Sadly insureance companies in India dont require photographs right?
