*drool drool*
i was planning on buying the Skoda Laura sometime this yr end or probably in Jan. Stretching my budget a bit actually by going in for it.
Now this launch of the Tiguan is going to put my plans in a tizzy. If it is less than 20lacs OTR I am going to get it for sure. I hope its around 18. Hell yeah.
Wish the Outlander was available in Diesel as well. It would have been an awesome war between the Honda CR-V Diesel, Tiguan and the Outlander then.

So far, history has shown that no VAG group products have been competitively priced (there might be the odd exception, please prove me wrong).
What is to say that the Tiguan will be priced competitively?

Well someone "in the know" has said the Tiguan would be priced in the 17 -18L price band. It could be off the cuff, but I would like to believe it is true.

Even IF it is priced at 20L. It is still a winner as it would be a 140 Bhp deisel. Same engine as the Audi A4 deisel. Not to forget the German build quality.

Till such time it is just "hope"

Cheers

With this pricing for this Petrol SUV, I do not thing even 100/month would be achievable, when C-RV is already going good.

I was really expecting it below 18L.

The tiguan has a similar engine to the Passat's. When the Jetta with the 1.9TDi is priced at 20L here then there is no chance the Tiguan come in the same price bracket especially with VW's crazy pricing.

I would say just a little below the Passat at 25L or so.

If they do price it at 18-20L it would be a market grabber being diesel

I have seen the Tiguan during AutoExpo. While it is a a very smart looking car, it doest feel very big and it almost feels like a large hatch with low bonnet and curvy rear. I am not sure the cargo area but the boot looked really small. Those who are looking for something more imposing may not give a serious thought.

I was under the impression that the Tiguan was based on the Jetta and not the Passat.
Besides, isn't the Jetta less than 20lacs. From what I know, the Jetta is priced around 15-18lacs from base to the top-end.

From what I hvae been reading about the Tiguan, it is going to be cheaper than the Honda CR-V by around a lac atleast.

outlander is confirmed at 22,67,800 on road in chennai.

from what I read about the tiguan, it is not a 4wd. it should be similar to the crv.

CRV is full time fwd. when wheel slippage occurs, the crv automatically transfers upto 20% power to rear wheels to help traction.

the outlander is 4wd with lock, which means 50% gets transferred to rear wheels.

The 2.4 is AWD but the 2.0 is not.

Suddenly the CRV 2.0 looks like a deal doesn't it? If you're not into off-roading. If you are, then the GV looks so much better. It's kinda hard to justify the Outlander's 20.2L price, especially when one divides up potential owners into those two categories -
1. those who just want a soft-roader
2. those who want an off-roader
I think very few people want both - and the positioning of the Outlander is a little muddled.

sorry. i should have mentioned that. i was talking about the crv2.4 only.

crv 2.0 is 2wd ONLY.

crv 2.4 is awd (fwd with 20% power that can be transmitted to rear wheels)

While Tiguan is in the waiting "anytime" stage, I dont think any serious buyer will hurry to get an outlander. Indians are poured with plenty of choices in the sedans, SUVs and even in Bikes ! Now we need to see the price cutting competition to lure the potential buyers by each brand. I am sure those days are not far.

I considered CRV in August 2008, checked GV, Tucson, Captiva, Endy and now waiting for Tiguan. As of now, I am a potential buyer for Tiguan, considering the power, styling, fuel and other details.

What a low key, unimpressive ad of the outlander on TV. All long shots which make it difficult to see clearly. And such a soft ending to the ad.
C'mon, Mitsu, wake up!

Will wait for your dump later in the day. I was in that area only today but will not be able to make it tomorrow. Otherwise, would have joined you.
