My view is that: It is not enough to merely wish there were rules in India regulating overhangs. Please tell me what is the rule, and in which document? And who is the enforcement authority?

If my information is correct, the overhang cannot exceed 50% of the wheel base.

ARAI makes all those rules... and in homolgaton of vehicles.. ( yes it is required even for models produced in india) they make sure that it is enforced. it is quite common to extract the maximum out of the rules so that the load/passenger carrying capacity is maximised. after all most of the state buses are not used for maxmum comfort, they are used for carrying max no of people, that is the market requirement in india.

an example is AL's vestibule buses and there is still market for that.

and evry auto maker takes indian rules eriously, if one car wa not passing the regulations the company can be shut down

We have an office Traveller, which had done an astonishing (for me) 8,35,000+ kilometers when the odo had stopped working. And it was still holding up pretty okay.

Seeing quite a few of these mini school buses in Blore city nowadays. It appears like M&M has just expanded the scope of the CRDe engine into it's CV's, which is a good sign.

dunno.. mate, My guess will be a 4 cylinder Diesl 3.9L or so.. Hino 4D
power around 120HP...

but i did i bit of search and found that everybody is building LSV's.. there is one from tata too and then there is mahindra AXE, one big contract from defence coming up??

We have had vehicles that have run 2 million + miles, and closing in on the 3 mark, and still going strong.

Would be a tractor-trailer model. Only the tractor/cabin is facing the photographer.
