best and worst fuel consumption figure

worst----6kmpl-----indica v2 (deisel) without A/C

with A/C on,, the mileage drops by 3 to 4kmpl.


on average my indica gives me 12kmpl mileage without A/C in city and highway (mix) traffic.....

i want to incrEASe my milaege of indica ,,,,what should i do for it...

Worst - Peugot 209 3kmpl This one had a awsome engine. Was too young and ignorant then. but it would spin wheels effortlessly in 3rd gear that i was scared to move the car in 1st and 2nd

My GTX 5kmpl while belting it on the way to ooty with the revs touching 6-7k at each gear change.

Best - Ford escort diesel 22kmpl on highways consistently!
My GTX averaged 19 kmpl on bangalore-coimbatore run for the past 3 times! The FE is now hovering around 12-14kmpl mark in the city. Whoever said the GTX was not fuel efficient? Good quality fuel is all that it takes. Even with the occasional beltinf FE hardly goes below 12 kmpl in the city (well coimbatore city)
OHC 1.5 never below 15 kmpl. Worst has been 12 kmpl with very poor quality adulterated fuel near madurai.

CBZ - best 55 while running in . Worst 38 on highway trip with heavy pillion and racing all the time, and adutrated petrol from a highway petrol pump.

Zen - Best 18 during running-in, worst 13.8. Car has only done 2000 kms till now, and has been on a diet of Speed only from a COCO Pump in Pune. Fairly frequent AC usage.

Best was around 20 kmpl in an Indica DLE(5 speed) on a trip of around 1700 kms with AC 50% on in the scorching heat of Rajasthan.
Worst was I guess my Maruti 1000, which used to give around 7 with AC when it had been 9 years old.

BTW, this recollects me of a highest fuel economy drive that had been organised by Wasan Motors, Chembur for Tata Indicas. The winner got around 36 kmpl over some 50 kms on a diesel Indica. Don't know how!

I guess you have been very lucky to get those figures for your GTX. My friend uses Speed 93 with it and has never been able to get more than 8 kmpl in Mumbai with AC. Also your OHC seems pretty good.

Honda Accord 2.3 A/T - 5kmpl (city...this is when the car came new and i was revving it hardcore) - 7.5kmpl (city...this figure comes up only when my dad drives it sometimes at a strectch.)
C180 - 7kmpl (city) .. 13kmpl (highway)
Dont remember the figures of the other cars much coz i dont usually fill them up...but the endeavour gives around 8 in the city not sure of other figures.

Worst : 10mpg = 4 kmpl Lapping day in the M3 on a racetrack called Gingerman Raceway near Chicago.

Worse - 9kmpl Alto (city)....shifting to 4rth in 120k's each time..
again in the company of zen, santro and the NHC..shifting to 4rth in 120k's..

Figures my Dad consistently manages from both the cars no matter what..
