Wow has that rugged look that it needs.

Hopefully they sell this to the common man too.

Of course BFGs are available in India, atleast in BLR.

WHOAWESOME dude, that thing looks like a beast.....A very very purposeful beast. It has Scorpio written all over it and I wouldnt be surprised to hear about a Scorpio stretch chassis, engine etc. used on the Axe. There is just something immensely appealing about basic, rugged and purposeful cars like this.

Do I see only a brake and accelerator pedal (therefore an auto transmission) or is it the pictures angle?

Thanks a ton for sharing this with us, Dhiraj. Sweet find.

i dont think mahindra would make an automatic for the army. it is just the camera angle where the accelerator is missing. mostly all vehicles made for the army are base models with manual and with no additional frills.

if you notice the distance from the firewall below it looks to me like a manual, i might be wrong. i presume mahindra has used alot of inhouse material to build the car and so would the pedals be borrowed from the scorpio. the accelerator pedal is normally thinner in their cars.

You didnt get my point

I was trying to say, India should create it own identity.

For example - how some Indians call Bangalore as "silicon valley" of India is just stupid and low self-esteem in my opinion.

May be they can call it, IT Capital of India.
Bangalore is Bangalore - thats it.

there is a way of putting things across my friend. you dont go calling indians beggars. there is enough money here in india to put any of the nations to shame.
the car has its own identity very different than the hummer and the chinese copy. compare all three cars and you shall see the only one which is different is the mahindra axe.

I am just wondering... considering that they say it will be anything between 300 and 400 HP what has Mahindra managed to make yaar!!! I mean generating that kind of power from an engine developed in-house here sounds dream like considering no india designed car ever probably crossed the 150HP. Then there is the matter of the 180bhp scorpio they are planning to unleash in US markets... Tatas getting gung ho about a 165bhp Safari 3.0 All of a sudden these folks have gone on the overdrive

Very good project.I am well surprised , it is good to see a real offroader. Are we sure it is rated 300 or 400 hp?What type of engine will output that?A 5.0 lor 6 liters engine V8 or V12?Who will supply that type of engine?

The rear pics suggest that the rear suspension is independent too. The Front suspension too is designed for added movement. So it doesn't look like anything that Mahindra has produced so far. (Apart from the doors on the hardtop, from the Marshall/Commander/Armada trio)
