Then I had this good old neighbour with an optra 1.6 base who sometime back had asked me why i chose baleno over an Optra (I still remember you suggesting me an optra on the phone.) Well I told him it was about 2hundred thousand more and the FE was not too good. Well he asked me how much my FE was and I said it gives about 10-11 and he asked me if I ever had checked and I said no. He said I should check and I said why not and chose speed 97 cos again my neighbour said it gave the best FE. earlier I used to fill her up with shell super petrol (not sure of its octane rating). I would check the FE with Shell in a short while. But my point stands I dont drive my car too hard, Dont ride the clutch unless absolutlely neccesary(which is getting to be more and more in Blr, dont do high rpms in low gears and yet I get an FE of 8.5km/ltr and that is actually a bit disappointing. I am not sure whether it is 1. BLR traffic and road conditions. 2. Speed 97 itself 3. Some 3rd service screw up. With venkatrx also getting similiar FE like mine, I would like to ask other bangalore baleno city drivers what thier FE's (along with fuel used etc) are to come to any conclusion. Hey Supreme, In my mind using the auto nozzle cut off could be a faulty way of checking fe as every nozzle may be tuned differently for autocutoff. while brimming to the tip would be some everywhere. I could be wrong though experts please shed light. | |

I would suggest you ask your service centre to do a litre FE test using a special contraption that holds a pre-determined amount of fuel, on which you run the car till the fuel runs out. This would be the most error-free method.

2.5kmpl, IMO is way too low for even a Sonata.

| @drift_kid, your driving = 2.5-3.5 kmpl. driver driving = 8kmpl (which sounds normal for a Sonata). Plus, you have given an indication of how you "drive". Don't need a rocket scientist to figure out why you are getting such pathetic FE. It's upto you to decide whether to drag and burn gas OR drive normally and save gas.
