Some parts update on figo-

Lamp lamp rear - 1023.5
bulb halogen - 198
Bulb - fog lamp - 100.

The replacement of fog lamp bulb is very tedious process however much better than paying 1.5k+ for new lamps

All prices are pretax, hth.

Default Mahindra Logan- Over-billed by Garage

Dear Fellow Forum Members and Mahindra Logan Owners,

I hope I'm posting this query in the right section of the forum, if not moderators are requested to place it in the correct section.

I own a Logan Petrol 1.6 GLX which I bought at 31km on the odo in Sep 2011 from a reputed dealer and the car was checked, serviced and handed over to me and the car has been niggle free till date. I only have had to change the tyres a month back as the JK’s very bad and I switched to new MRF ZLO’s.

After about 9 months now, 2 days back had given my car for Service and asked my Local Mechanic to check the suspension as well, there were no major problems just a slight tud sound when I go over speed breakers, everything else was normal, I have been presented will a Bill now of Rs 22755, out of which Rs 4500 is for seat covers which I have asked him not to put anymore as the bill has gone way over my imagination so even after taking out the seat covers the bill comes to Rs 18255. I have attached the copy of the Bill can fellow members throw some light if this bill and the part prices are correct and if at all so many parts are required to just cure a slight tub sound from the front end.

The car had done exactly 38000 kms and is 4yrs 10 months old while this service was done. I wanted to do this service as it was about 6.5kms since purchase and it was time for an Engine Oil Change.

Do you trust this mechanic? Have you gone to him before? Or did you just happen to find his shop on the roadside and walked in?

Changing 20 different parts for a slight "tud" sound obviously implies that he is taking you for a (bumpy) ride.

And, by the way, he stopped at (21) Starting Plug 4 Prs only because he ran out of space in that bill. Else, your bill would have been higher.

I have used his services in the past, however that was about 2 years back, he was reasonable then, this time around I have serious doubts.

He is taking you for a royal ride, try getting an estimate for the parts from a Authorised service station or from a spare parts dealer.

Starting plugs, I believe these are spark plugs. There is no need to spend 1000/- on spark plugs, they are available for much cheaper prices.

musicmanaman, this bill amount is not only for the scheduled service as the thread title suggests. Apart from regular oil change job the bill says you've bought new seat covers, there is a mention of Suspension Job including 2 new dampers and their mountings, Brake Pads replacement(front + rear), full car polishing and dry cleaning, wheel bearings are replaced, bumpers are repaired and painted...

Did you get the estimate before all this was done to your car? I always make sure to ask the service guys to take my consent before carrying out any job/replacement i have not requested for.

The mechanic is not honest enough is for sure.
But the charges for 1) Seat Cover cost Rs 4500 2) Front & Rear bumper repair painting Rs 1800, 3) Polishing Rs 950 adds up to moe than Rs 7000.
Further suspension work adds to Rs 7500 and Lubricants another Rs 1500.
Therefore the point to be examined is whether suspension overhauling was required or not.

One first point last, so as you sold the Avigo and went for this Logan did you post the experience?

. This qualifies for the official joke thread.

I had asked for the following to be done.

1. Brake pads and shoes to be replaced (just wanted to do this for my own satisfaction)
2. Engine oil Replacement with Castrol Magnatech.
3. Air and Oil Filter replacement.
4. Suspension check.
5. General Servicing (Wash the engine bay and under body)
6. There were very minor starches on the bumper and I wanted them fixed.

It’s the items in the Suspension work that I’m unsure as to why so many components were replaced or if at all they were replaced and if they were are the correct cost.

For Example the Air-Filter I just enquired with someone I know is Rs 535 at Mahindra, I have been charged Rs 850 for the same.

I have told him I do not wish to go for the seat covers anymore, and even without seat covers the bill comes upto Rs 18255/-

All items have been rounded off to nearest Rs 50 or Rs 100 , smells fishy definitely . You must demand for old parts replaced in one go , don't give him time to source old ones . Given the place you live , it wont be easy to fight with these kind of people but if you know some local influential person , best will be to involve him and settle . You must forgot this as an accident and take this is as a learning experience , next time don't save on few pennies and instead take your cars to Authorised dealership

Kolkata 700019, that makes it ballygunge. The local mechanics usually take the owners for a ride in ballygunge and new alipore unless known for ages.(have seen many cases)

Do some hard bargaining and threaten that you have contacts etc. It may bring the bill down. Suspension change for a thud, bumper repainting for a scratch!!You have been duped for sure, so now its all damage control.

Best of luck.

Sorry to say this but you asked for this trouble. You gave him a free run and he exploited you to his maximum advantage. Why did you not take an estimate before agreeing to get the suspension job? Talk tough, tell him that you know the price of the spares and ask for both the original bills and replaced parts. Some of them are experts at sourcing false bills from spare parts shop and pass off old salvaged parts as new. Ask him why instead of touch up he repainted the bumpers. Bargain hard. Feel sorry for you, but there is not much you can do unless you know somebody influential.
