@skywalker - And filling last 10 odd pages of a thread about a product pricing with some obsolete product's pricing strategy is fair. Huh! Anyway, signing out of this thread. Don't see anything concrete here but just silly thoughts.

Exclamation

Then A segment car would have C segment engine. Its as simple as this. Because 1.5~1.6 engines are norm in C segment.

This thread also belongs to Linea . Anyway I am requesting MODS to branch off discussion on Linea dimensions, so that new thread gets higher visibility.

Just met up with a FIAT guy at a petrol pump, who was filling up 3 Grande Puntos. He said it'll be launched in May.

Thats great news! The battle of the super hatch is about to begin. With rumours of the Jazz getting launched at around the same time.

No pics Vikram ?

I have a hunch that the GP isn't going to be out before the Indigo Vista.

Rationale being that both the products have to be at similar price points in order to demarkate them from the Linea. It makes better sense to launch the hatch after the Sedan. To give it a longer limelight after launch.

As per various reports Indigo vista is stated to be here in march itself so GP will have breathing space when it launches.
Also IMO rear doesnt looks good.

my dad suggested puchasing an I20. I asked him to wait till the Grande Punto and Jazz are launched. It's not an emergency and also the prices of I20 may come down due to intensifying competition.

As far as I see it, the competition is most likely to ignore any potential great car from Fiat.

Sadly, I left my cell phone in the car while i walked over to talk to the Fiat guy. He left before I returned to my car. I don't think he would have objected either; he was really nice to talk to.

I'm thinking of changing my small car around then. I hope I'm spoilt for choice. I'm sure it'll be a toss up between the GP and the Jazz.

We all know Linea has generated a tremendous response so far and the initial booking has been great, if not decent. Honda has already responded to the Linea effect through its 'Admiration guaranteed' ads. If GP is positioned with a VFM pricing like linea with atleast 75% of the goodies offered in I20 (removing some of the goodies for which the mass market is not matured enough), FIAT will have a great hatch in hand. Unless Honda or Hyundai is not expecting much sales from I20 or Jazz, they just cannot ignore GP.

There will be three engines on offer : -

The famed 1.3 L MJT Diesel
A 1.2L Petrol
A 1.4L Petrol

Fiat really want to become a competitive player in the market and hence they are planing a very competitive pricing for these cars.

The reason for the aggressive pricing it is that they have highly localised parts.

Engines have been loaclised to 85%

The G Punto is expected to ribal the Swift & Getz 1.3, wheras the Linea will take the fight to the SX4.

News taken from ACI, August, 2007.

BUSA's first post had it almost spot on and the linea base version petrol is being sold at 6.2 lakhs ex showroom mumbai (carwale). So it stands to reason that his GP price of 5 lakhs would also come thru. now taking a cue from lineas line up of models a guesstimate of GP prices would be Petrol base 5.0 going up to 6.0 and the diesel base 6.0 going to 7.0

Compare with i10 petrol is 5.0 - 5.86 - 6.1.
Getz diesel 5.7
Do we have a winner here?? IMO
If the fit and finish is akin to the linea..
YES
