thats not bad at all scooby, priced to compete against the audi a4 and mercedes c class and the bmw 3 series. now it would be size that would matter.

lurker CBU or CKD does not make a difference as long as the car is good and affordable.

Price is too high IMO, it'll be competing with the C/3/A4. Not sure if the VW badge has enough kudos to hold out in that segment.

OMG now audi and VW are of the same price what is the meaning of this?VW is no more a common mans car and audi is no more superior to VW anymore
i think VW wants people to stop considering VW an ordinary brand and maybe they want to make vw an equaly powerful brand and keep a competition within themselves..like the cayene amd toureg for eg.

US Prices:

A4 Sedan 2.0T - Starting at $28,240*
VW Passat - Starting price $23,180*
C300 (3L, V6) Merc - Starting price $31,975*
Toyota Avalon - Starting price $27,075*
Toyota Camry - Starting price $18,570*

these are all 20L plus vehicles in India and all under CBU except the Merc and VW..The avalon of course is not offered here and the merc c class is not the C300 V6 model..

Looking at those prices it is clear that all these 20lakh CBU cars are worth 10 lakh only. Definitely not VFM in India.

Car is more affordable in CKD, isn't that much pretty obvious. Atleast it is cheaper for the manufacturer, it is another thing if he wishes to pass on the cost reduction to the customer.

Thats current C pricing, i see very few going for the VW. The C has the *Three Pointed Star* attached to it, looking at which people blindly buy it. Bad pricing by VW i must say.
