Question

I have seen such devices working on 230VAC, do they come in 12VDC variants too?

Bet 'Ratbuster' is not the service station's favorite customer.. Imagine the poor mechanics trying to get those brushes off every time and then, no doubt, being forced to install them again

how often do you need to go to the service station????
and i have never had to remove mine except during the tappet setting.

Someone had once suggested in the automobile column of "Outlook Money" that the odour from a partly opened pouch of tobacco keeps the rats away ! Full story can be found in the following URL:

I think instead of trying to protect only the cars from rats, all you apartment guys get together and try plugging all the entry points from where these rats get to your cars. Get the corporation authorities also involved in the name of epidemic and illnesses etc.

Try to get to the root of the problem and fix it. At the same time dont stop the.. rat poison and stuff under your car. That should cut down the menace significantly!

You need to talk to Dr. SpeedSatya....... he has just the right medicine for this...
Search the forum for a solution posted by him. The ingredients are easy to source and administration is simple.

I also had the rat problem with my Maruti Zen. Some pipe eaten and once one died inside somewhere. It was a major problem, since we simply could not find it. The local garagewallah opened up whatever he could think of and finally it was found inside the front suspension setup. The rats seem to prefer marutis or what? No problems with my OHC parked next to it.

The solution is a combination of what most guys have said above. What solved the situation in my case:
1. Avoid eating/drinking in your car.
2. Breed some cats.
3. Rat infestation contract with PCI. They have kept two electronic gizmos and also poison/traps at various places where rats can enter compound.

The above combination has helped and I now tolerate some paw marks and cat scratch marks on my cars.

I am surprised that this has not been suggested so far.

I am not sure if this works, since I have not tried it myself, but I have it on good authority that the solution for rats is Camphor ( karpuram as we say in Tamil ).

Rats come and park themselves above the shock absorbers in the engine bay. The suggestion is to pinch some camphor in the engine bay as well as as to pinch and sprinkle in and around the engine etc. at night.

The vapors are supposed to keep the rats away.

Hope this works. I have not yet experienced this problem myself, but some members in our bldg are already complaining.

Venkat

LMAO, that was a funny one, steeroid.

haven't you guys seen Tom & Jerry ? cats are not the answer for the rat problems. Pied Piper is.

a friend of mine in Bangalore has this problem & had to spend 4k to get the wiring done. so iam watching this thread for a solution. bottle brushes are surely not the answer. may be the rats got the smell of rum in that & ran away.
