In Bangalore Garuda is giving a 59000 discount on the ex-showroom price of the base 1.6 Optra. Does this mean start of the slide for Optra. It had already happened to the Baleno. How soon before the Optra becomes the next Cielo (both are Daewoo anyway)?
Or am I just being paranoid ?

Almost every car comes with a large discount now. Even the best selling Corolla has some great discounts going for it.

Competition is really tough now and for dealers to get customers in their showrooms, discounts and freebies are the order of the day.

Nothing to worry about IMO.

Check with any Sonata dealers. They're giving huge discount also. So is Mondeo, to exhaust their stock.

does it mean soon like astra the optra will be available on used car mart. for under rs. 150000 . ride quality on the 1.6 was hopeless. i drove it for 10 mins and walked out. not worth. GM might be staying here for a while. aint gonna make that much out of it. too many cars better than the optra comin out now.

For what it's worth, NHC has a 25k corporate discount while Optra 1.6 base has 43k.

Well,yeah.....but not the Cielo way.I guess its goin the Astra way.
Optra and Astra,pros and cons.
1. Both cars have excellent grip on road.
2. FE is pretty average. Not sufficient for the Indian public.
3. Bad resales.
4. Lovely interiors.
5. Average service(G.M)
6. Both come under the GM umberella.
7. Both picked up excellently but they was a consistent drop in sales thereafter.
8. And finally, heavy on maintanence than its rivals.

Daewoo was the same, but just for the Korean name its lost out in the market.Optra is a Daewoo design too,but dunt forget the Chevrolet shelter. One of the reason it picked up well in the market.
Cya.
