Now I think that is what is going to be called the "Jetta" for India!. A Chinese built 1.6 Polo Sedan![/quote]

Yes man this might be the version that they may launch here. Any Idea how much it costs there?

no way bro.... i too read somewhere that the jetta would be priced between 8-9 lakh rupees.. but then again i read in some other magazine, saying it'll cost 12-15lakhs... i think the latter would be correct.. 8-9lakhs is too cheap for a vw here in india, i feel so..

USD 13700. It would perfectly fit the INR 7-8 lakh bracket. There have been some quips on the quality though

13,700 US $ are damn less bro... if you convert that into INR
it comes to 5 lakhs 48k... thats cheaper than an accent viva?? woa!!
the current rate of 1 USD = 39.72INR say Rs. 40 approx. for 1$... thats dirt cheap... but i guess if you saw 13,700$ as the price tag, there would be other more expensive trims, this might be the base one. Also whenever they launch a car in india, it is always more expensive here, the price hike is significant. Anyhow lets hope for the best.

Honda Civic Starts from $15,010. Approx INR 600,500.

Toyota Corolla starts from $14,405 Approx INR 576,000.

VW Jetta starts at $16,490 approx INR 660,000.

See the Jetta competes with Civic, Corolla and what prices do Civic, Corolla sell in India? And the Jetta is priced higher then both these cars even in USA.

It definitely will be more expensive that what it is sold for in china! It always has been! My analogies on pricing: The Laura, sold as the octavia in UK costs GBP 18,425 (L&K 2.0 TDI PD 140bhp) and 18-20 lk bracket in India. A similarly equipped Jetta is over GBP 20,000 which means that when it is introduced in India, we are looking at atleast 20 lk.

But if the chinese version of polo sedan is re badged as the Jetta, they can put it bang in the SX4, Verna territory.
