Default Automatic car wash

A friend of mine runs a workshop where he has a ordinary manual carwash. He is considering setting up an Automatic car wash business in a busy locality in hyderabad. There is no such concept in Hyderabad and i havent seen any in other cities.
Are there any Automated car wash systems present in other cities??
If 'yes' then can anyone give me details? so that i can pass on this info to my friend.
Thanks,
-Chaxy

Auto car washes have never worked in India cos:

1. Labour is anyways cheap compared to stratospherical amounts in the states.
2. We get our cars washed everyday before breakfast!! Again unlike the States.

I have seen numerous automated car washes shut down in Bombay (e.g. Shell pump at Bandra) due to no business. Think about it, I get my cars washed the entire month for about 150 per car. Would I pay 30 - 50 for a single wash? In addition to the waste of time for something unnecessary?

I do get my cars washed professionally (car soap, jack lift et all) only once a month. But even there, its not an automatic car wash. Its a manual one which you see at every petrol pump with a service station.

Right! thats what i told my good friend too . My guess is that he will not go for a fully automated wash but as semi manual type one with a good customer customer service so that even Female drives can get their cars cleaned. His idea is that there is no good place in Hyd to get a decent car wash. And since he is in that business his idea might pay off !!

His plan is on the busy stretch of Panjagutta-Jubleehills-Hitechcity. It has some of the hightest 4-wheeler traffic. What do u think ??

There was a news item in a news-channel called TV-9 about the automated wash facility being started known as Marvel and the owner is Some Mr. Srinivas.

Tell me about it - my black car has swirl marks all over (not very obvious until you look carefully at the paint). The previous owner probably liked the convenience of auto washes. They're supposed to pressure-hose it down well before auto washes - quite a few of them do it, but there are a lot that dont too.

MRF Tyredrome in chennai has an auto wash facility. Its works only by appointment. Sometimes I have waited 3 days to get an appointment. The car emerges shining after the wash.

They do very good interior cleaning as well. My Black beauty Alto is never as pretty as after a wash from MRF. Rs 220 for a wash. Takes about a hour to complete. Great lounges to pamper you through. Sadly no underbody wash is available.

Well the rest of the car is being washed everyday the whole month for Rs 200. So what's the point in an automatic?

While I was in Chennai and was a kid, I used to enjoy the occassional washes that MRF would advertise when you can sit in the car while the brushes wash. My uncle used to take me there.

Now I look for some serious washing, though

does this mrf auto wash have huge brushes which clean the car. If it does then it's of no use. the car's going to have scratches all over.

It will look clean but the colour will fade away fast with the swirl marks all over.

prolonged usage of the car with the same auto wash will definitely lead to paint shade difference in a particular area like the top of the car, the boot lid and the hood...had this octavia of my cousin, which suffered this prob..we thought it was a paint defect but later came to know it was due to this auto wash thing!!!
