I think it does make a big difference to the overall look of the car.
Of course it does. What I meant was "How "difficult" is it to get the alloy designs right?"

Your M3 is disqualified because its a CBU ! I was just comparing cars within the CKD segment.

GTO- My bad . I thought you meant the opposite.

Fine, fine...I have to second that vote then, the 530i does have really nice alloy wheels!

Edit: And props to BMW for bringing bigger wheels to India. If MB had their way, we'd still see nothing more than 15" (or 16" at very most) on the new C!

Default Thank you,Mercedes! I love U!*kisses*

But one thing Mercedes India messed up is that gorgeous matt-ish grill. They've given us Indians the same old chrome thingy!

Unfortunately, my guess is that "us" - young sexy enthusiasts are a minority. The grill appeals to the rich uncles or people who have experience but not owned mercs who was the traditional grill and play road sniper with the star on the bonnet.

I am sure that the sport/ avantgarde grill will come along but let's not scare the uncle's off at first

took a gander at the new C. was at sundaram motors getting some stuff fixed in my car.

strangely enough...the car didn't impress as much as in pics. it was a funny grey color (trying to imitate the bentley grey) edit: its the same color as in nitrous' you tube link. plus, methinks the C with the sport trim will look much better.

but 3series and new A4 killer? unlikely!

@raftaar: Yes there is a grey one standing outside in the yard. It looks quite bad IMO. Apparently, its the first time its coming in that color.

Did you take a look at the white one inside the showroom? It looks awesome.

@kbk 75-by "our" i meant ARAI and the guidelines are based on the size of the car and the engine capacity,so it would not be a recommendation but a rule.
The C Class as of now would be only in the C 200K and the C 220Cdi form.As i said before the C 230 is hopefully on the cards but the C 280 Cdi or the C 320 Cdi are nearly impossible.
@GTO-The manual C Class would be available only in the second half of '08 and only in the classic trim. Also wait for the C 230 to be launched, its got great set of wheels.

Trust me guys the car is a beauty to drive, the steering is much lighter even than the E 280.The C 220 Cdi especially is a bomb,410Nm of torque @ 2000 rpm! Also the brakes have been improved to a great extent not that they were bad.Above 2500 rpm the car gives out this meaty exhaust note, its just too intoxicating for a car of this size. The steering is lot more precise, and the car is a lot more fun to drive in the manual triptronic mode now. Also the selective damping suspension really works!! you don't notice the when it switches from sports setup to soft.Looks of this car are to individual's taste.Personally i find the white one to be the best. Also now all colours except the Iridium Silver(pure silver) comes with beige interiors, and the silver comes with black. However the classic trim cars would come with black interiors only. Also the grill is not exactly chorme as whole. The flat slats on the grill are matt finish and the front facing portion if chrome.Cheers!!!

Guys, I too took a drive in the C200K. It's beautiful. There's a sports mode where you can really hear the gears changing.

Just booked the car. 200K automatic mode. Will get it first week of feb mostly.

I love the looks. Since its cheaper and more spacious than the BMW (not to forget the beemer is little old, I think 2006), this car was the obvious choice for me.

Best,

Best,
Congrats !

What was the ex-showroom price and price difference with the C220cdi?
Did you test drive the C220 Cdi? If not i suggest you do before finalizing, coz the tweaked diesel engine might just catch your fancy! Did the C200K get an upgrade since the previous gen?

Nonetheless good choice, i'd pick it over the 3 series too !

P.S: What exactly do you mean by you can hear the gears changing in sports mode? I am not sure if thats a very good thing/sound

Default Delhi price approx

For Delhi people looking for info, the new C Class is approx 27lakhs on road for manual and about 30lakhs for automatic transmission.
Now to wait and see the initial ownership reports on this forum, cheers

Yayyyy we have a manual in luxury segment finally

@Sahil

Thanks!

Well, since i'd be doing a maximum of 6k kms/year, the diesel would'nt make much sense. Nevertheless, will check it out.

Here are the ex-showroom prices for all the models

c200k - M/T - 25.70
c200k - A/T 28.01

c220 CDI - MT - 28.54
c220 CDI AT - 30.86

I mean, I can hear the revvvvving and vrrroming noise in the sports mode . Not too sure what else is the difference in this mode. Harder suspension maybe (compared to the comfort mode)

There was a article in the papers a day or two ago that Punjab celebrated the new year with luxury cars!

According to the article over 40 mercs, Beemers, etc were books in Nov-dec 07 to be delivered around the new year!

I am sure googling would get you the story!
