5-6 lakhs ex-showroom. Add another 70K to that and you're looking at a smallish hatch for probably 7 lakhs + on road. It's going to be a hard sale for Skoda! Especially with that awkward design.

The industry publication Automotive News reported in Aug 2007 that Skoda will not raise prices for its second-generation Fabia station wagon to be launched in Europe, keeping the new model priced between the Fabia hatchback and the Roomster minivan. When the new Fabia hatchback launched earlier in 2007, Skoda kept prices almost unchanged from the preceding model while increasing equipment levels. An entry-level station wagon likely will cost €10,034, which is 12.4% more than the hatchback and 21% less than the Roomster small minivan. The Fabia is a critical car for Skoda. In 2006, Skoda made 241,115 units, 43 percent of its total car production of 556,347 units. Station wagons made up 44 percent, or 106,112 units, of all Fabia production, topped only by the 121,506 units of the hatchback. Skoda will not replace the slow-selling Fabia sedan.

They better reduce the prices for fabia in India. With Swift sedan, getz diesel, santro diesel expected in same or less price bands, Skoda is in for trouble. Dont think Fiat GP/Linea will make a dent to skoda..but who knows.

Thats the price they will have to pay for procrastination.

I was hoping to buy a Fabia in 2004, I even put Fabia as my desktop wallpaper for couple of months. Then I bought a Baleno, sold it after 2.5 years and now looking at Safari, that's my desktop wallpaper now.

Meanwhile, Skoda is yet to deliver Fabia. Good thing I didn't wait.

That's a good news.
But the bad thing is We've had some of these teasers earlier too and it always proved to be false ones.

BTW, There're some other threads exclusively discussing about Fabia. This can be put there. Ain't it? Do we need another thread for this Long in waiting FAB?

I have been contacted by a Skoda dealer while I am hunting for a new car. He said that Fabia will be here in December, priced between 6-7 lacs and company claimed mileage for that is 35 Km/L !!
