Thumbs down Car prices set to go up?

Hi All,

Don't know how true this is, but thought I'd share this with you all.
When I went to book my Ikon (@ Cauvery ford bangalore) I was told by the salesman that there would be a Cess on Cars from October. For Ikon, the price would go up by around 30K. So, I should have my car registered before 28th of this month. Is this correct?

hey,
the Govt of India is considering imposing 8% cess on cars and 4% cess on bikes. but there is no official deadline on this. This cess may get postponed for quite some time as there are chances of midterm poll.
Also there are issues of on what value will that cess be calculated.
Whatever it is, its deinately not going to come in october.

Regards,

There is a talk about 8% cess on cars, but I am not sure whether it has taken a definite shape yet. But if it is passed in Parliament then all car prices will be hiked by 8%. Let us hope it does not happen.
