Is this "on the road price"? What are the current prices after
the price cut & discounts?

That goes back to my original question.
What was the price after the pricecut?
What was the cheapest one could have purchased
the Baleno in it's lifetime?

They launched a low variant, Baleno Lxi at 5.6 lakhs. I guess Vxi held its price.

I would call it a total failure of maruti's thinkpad in view of a longer term view for Indian market, how?
See in India majority decissions are being taken in a family meet wether family is a united or devided and here Maruti did a wrong thing to pullback Baleno,I too own a Baleno(old members know this)and we have 3 Balenos in my family. Now when someone bought it in last year he/she must have ruled out all other factors like safety/show etc and other cars like honda, ascent etc etc.and bought it just becoz of MUL and MUL then decided to call it a day in Baleno's case.
I bet those who bought Baleno in 2004-2006 will never go for SX4 on above logic of mine-atleast I will not as I may not able to convince my family again to vote for MUL whom now they hate almost after knowing that Baleno is no more in market, they feel like cheated almost.

This basically means that MUL should never stop production of a model.
Irrespective of when they stop production, there will always be lots of
people who would have purchased the car in it's last 2-3 years & they
will feel cheated.

Yes this is true in India atleast, good arguement and somehow I agree but thats what we are carboy and yes many feel like what I wrote and they will think twice before switching over to SX4.

So which company's car would you switch to, if you had to switch?
Is there any company which never stops production of a model?

@ECM, all products have a life and after that, they get phased out or are replaced by (supposedly) better products. This is normal and there is nothing to be mad at MUL or any other manufacturer.

When I bought the Baleno in 2005, I did not think they will phase it off, because MUL usually takes it own sweet time to phase off products (unlike say Honda who are very pro-active in this regard). But, I should have seen it coming, given the low sales from introduction till price-cut and the very act of cutting prices should have rang a bell.

For me, I got an awesome car at a great price and given Maruti A.S.S., I don't need to worry about spares/service for years to come. So, as far as I am concerned, it makes no difference whether they still sell it or not.

I think this is the best value for money in this segment. Phasing out does not mean no resale and also parts are easily available. Just drove 350 Kms on the highway and i can easily say there are very few cars with this kind of performance. More VFM for me as we bought a 2005 model run only 14000 Kms for 4 lacs.

I also do not feel cheated that the production has been stopped. In fact its good that companies are stopping the production of old cars and making way for newer cars. IMO its high time that maruti stops production of 800 and esteem.

I have been wondering for quiet some days. More logans than SX4 on the streets. Where? Why?

Why did martui phased out this beauty? If I have a option to buy Baleno at 4.xx (with ABS), I would sell my swift for it. Impressed with the looks of the car (including rear), but budget was a constrain then.

My next love to OHC - BALENO
