Each of these involves only a headlight / grill change. Hardly what you can call a redesign?

As one of the members mentioned earlier - 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'.
I owned the OHC earlier and currently own the NHC. Love both for different reasons. They are styled so differently that comparisons are difficult. Some folk like test cricket and others, the T20 version.

The NHC has taken over, very bad design, OHC is lost forever

I have at times tried to figure out a reason why honda revised OHC to new model.

despite whatever we all feel about it, they wanted to reposition their City in a segment and also for certain regions where they thought it made sense.
Light weight and fuel economy was high on their list a bit too high, but why that design :(

Its not been a fiasco at all if the sales numbers are anything to go by.

Again a car manufacturer i like for a very unique reason is Hyundai, they learn where others lose out.

Hyundai has always continued their old models along with the new one.

IMO
New Scorpio - Severely OTT styling cues - too much happening all over the place - no need at all for that. the older one looked so much more secure and at peace with itself.
New Bolero - looks a bit silly - the older one looked much more self assured.
New Zen Estilo - egg shaped buggy
Zen Classic - looked like nothing on earth after its makeover - no wonder not many sold...
New Honda City - the old shape was so much classier - the new one looks like one of those beetles in the movie "the mummy"
But this is only IMO - Beauty does lie in the eye of the beholder.

So neither the new sells nor the old . I don't call that a learning.

Old model sold 900~1000 per month.
New model sell 2500~3500 per month - thats learning.

1. Maruti Zen
2. Honda City
3. Old or new, Hyundai Verna is the ugliest car I've ever seen. Hyundai has come up with nice looking cars like Santro Xing, i10, Accent Viva and Elantra. Fail to understand why would they launch this Verna that has funniest headlamps.

This is a debatable one, chat. While you think that the Verna looks like a Comic book character there are few others(no...not me) who think that it looks a bit 'Maserat-ish'. To me it looks strange somewhat but a redesign of the grille should help matters a lot here

As for cars spoiled with redesign, the Bolero is on top. The original Bolero had an old school charm which was spoiled by the introduction of clear lens head lamps and unwanted details. Like an old lady getting a twenty year old's make-up, I would say.

The Scorpio facelift ,at first looked a bit too garish thanks to the bits and pieces added to the front bumper and tose tail lights. Now that I have got used to it.

The Palio stile's front is not to my tastes. I loved the original Palio even more. Coming to the rear, I liked the new one's even though the old one had nothing wrong with it.

But then it's just me and as they say :Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
