Sorry about the pic. quality, taken with my mobile cam! :(

I guess the garage guys weren't experienced with working on older cars as this so kept it aside.

'happened to come across yet another white SS80 on 26th January at the vintage car rally here. No it was NOT a participant of course but just happened to be at the same park and was attracting a young crowd!

Not really original of course, but well-done (IMHO) nevertheless, except for the front wings cleaved out (for what?) like that and also the overlarge door mirrors!

And sorry these are mobile phone pics. again!

A very nice maintained car in fact. Seems he has completely removed the rear seat to accommodate speakers/woofers. And his number say it all 50-50 for originality.

@ hillram:

That's a sweet SS80 you've got there. Kudos to you for maintaining it in pristine condition.
I see you only trust shell for the fuel requirements!

Do post more pictures.

Cheers!!!

As a part of Team BHP drive,I drove my SS80 this morning on the 100km stretch of Outer Ring Road around Hyderabad and the experiance I gathered is simply undescribable.
- Touched a maximum Speed on 125kms with AC running in full blast.
- All through the 150km drive, the car maintained an average speed of 100km,but i didnt exceed 80km as the
engine was still newly done.It was more to enjoy the drive than rip the car apart !!!
- Engine temparature needle just budged a few mm from the start point,as if we were in a polar region !!!
- Brakes did a amazing performence and were smooth as whistle.

Highlight was that a fellow Team Bhpian's Chevrolet Cruze (2000 cc) touched a maximum speed of 220km and my SS80 did 125km with almost 1/3 of its engine size..Phew !!! I was floored by this car's performence.
I feel nice to own an SS80,so well built by the japanese.

@Citizenlocal..Thanks for your appreciation.I choose nothing but Shell for my cars and motorcyles..conveniently the Shell filling station is enroute to my office,so tankfull everytime.

Hi Boss, it is a very well kept car indeed. I will ask you to do following on the car to still look better.
*Pls remove that single Maruti monogram from the rear portion it is a misfit and spoils the otherwise clean rear portion.
*Pls change the glass winder handles to original small ones, look for them in chor Bazar of your city. or you may get as new ones.
*Where is the screen washer plastic container????
*Keep only the small single horn for the car and remove those taxi, truck horn pair with that STRONG bracket patti...Regards.........

Dear Rajeev there are lot of good points about your car.

!. Engine room appears quite original. Even the OE horn is in place.
2. Bodyline is also quite clean.
3. The Green Colour is quite rare on ss80's.
4. The Registation Number is real fancy stuff.

You have kept the car well. Sure you would continue to take good care of her.

And more so that Maruti sticker in Hindi (wouldnt expect one in Kerala! ), SS80s were PURE JAPANESE so doesnt belong on them.

Congrats on getting such a nice car btw. Was this the one that was advertised for sale recently?

Yes dear, I just missed noticing that hindi Maruti monogram,it is again a misfit to the car. These hindi monograms came at a later stage of new model of 800cc car, maybe late 1991 or 1992.

If i am not mistaken this shade is called HARVEST GREEN and was introduced in SB308 models in 1996/1997 .The green shade which came on very few SS80's in 1986 and continued in the first batch of SB308's is a different and better shade called EMERALD GREEN.

This car was born in chocolate colour and the previous owner changed it to the present one. I had posted about this couple of pages back.

Many thanks to Ajay99 for starting this thread.

The SS80 bug has bitten me and has me hooked to this thread for close to a fortnight now.
I had been watching Stanher's, Hillram's, SureshKishore's, Ajay99's and many other cars and their individual restorations and was thinking when would my time come; well now it finally has!!!

Thanks to a standard white car that I have managed to find. Please find below the snap and provide your valuable suggestions.

I plan to take up restoration of the same as soon as the paper work is finished and I hope it is finished at the earliest.
