Even my vote goes to Palio....

1. The best in business steering feedback..
2. Cornering is fun again
3. Pedal to the metal and u gonna Vrooooommmmmmmmmmm
4. High speed stability in straight line.. I personally done 155 (Palio 1.6) but she is capable of more than this..
5. Engine noise .. It is very tempting...

On this, there is a huge fan following for the Fiat 1100D/Padmini. Its universally loved. Add it to the list.

Mechanically inclined people will instantly gratify that the stuff you can do with this car, is something that gets rewarded by a stock exhaust note incomparable to anything available today. Its a different ball game all together, there are no doubt faster/quicker cars, but does anything instill that kind of RWD passion that an old Fiat does to us.

going by the response to the thread i had started comparing softroaders/offroaders, I'm tempted to say safari is the one with the most fanatical following. my favourite however is the palio 1.6.

Handling baby! handling!

GUys,

there is a good reason for not including lancers/ ikons and padminis in this list.

sure, these cars have a fan following of their own, BUT, none of them have a widespread fanaticism that the others do. Their fan following is more of a niche, IMHO.

having said that, I absolutely love the lancer for its tuning potential and its ability on the road and track alike.

@1100- Bro, i appreciate your point, but the padmini is more of a classic nowadays than a cult car! but I do have fond memories of drifting in a padmini in an unused plot behind my house way back then!!!!

i second that 1100D..i would take a fiat over all of the cars in the list...even though i love the zen palio and the VTEC immensely...my cult car is and will always be the fiat 1100...

cheers..
ADD IT INTO THE LIST PLEASE..

how did you guys forget about the Fiat 1100d and the Premier Padmini or even the HM Contessa?

i think these are THE Cult Cars!

dont believe me? lets see...

well let the pics do the talking:

what about TBHP member Outlaw's '87 Padmini?

how about Aditya's Contessa?

IMO these cars should also be considered as Cult Cars.

Ha Ha! Holding onto the tail at full chat on gravel roads on a RWD (that does not roll like crazy ) needs the complete love affair between man machine and the tyres. incomparable.

Though love to see the tacho dance on a VTEC or the steering talking and the chassis dancing of an Ikon.

The Gypsy too. And where is the Mahindra Classic? In fact all old jeeps with its Dad-Mom-Child gearlevers were cars that always stayed close to the heart.

Yes these cars have specific appeal. But they lived in the age when information as well as Money was a little more difficult to come by. Moreover we hadn't seen Fast and Furious then. We only followed Mad Max.

I have owned three of the cult cars mentioned by the thread starter- Zen, Palio and Baleno. Zen and Baleno are very good cars but they can never arouse the passion like a Fiat Palio can. I cannot give any reason for this feeling, but this is what I feel. I haven't driven the vtec so cannot comment. and no comments about Safari though I have driven one.

Nothing comes close to THE BEAST SAFARI DICOR 3L.
I think second would be BUG-The Beetle
And Third would be Baleno.
(Before anyone starts bashing, this is just my opinion)
Everyone has different tastes.

@iraghava:looking at the picture, its more like you put the money in your belly(JW)...

as for me,i would say the palio 1.6.no car in the entire list combined handling, performance, driving feel, ride quality, build quality as well as the other cars.
No doubt the ohc vtec is a good car but it fell short in a lot of departments(handling, build quality, ride quality) considering its selling price.
