Hyundai GETZ - BS Motoring's car of the year 2005

just read that bs motoring car of the year 2005 is the Hyundai GETZ. it just about edged out the Ford Fusion.

I knew getz was going to get it. Its generally the most talked about popular cars that get the award. eg. palio.
But it is a good car and it achieves most things it set out to do.

maybe the fusion lost because its too expensive for its USP.if it were priced abt a lac lesser ,then the story wud have bene definitely differnt.

even i wished it was the fusion but for the guys at bsmotoring the fusion is meant to be in the same class as the getz so it lost out there ...
maybe in autocarindia...
i think the rider 1.8tp will be the most improved car though ...

i feel getz is a good car letdown by a not so excting engine and no option for dieselbut the car is not good to be given car of the year i left reading bsmotoring magazine long time ago as i considered some of their point of views too stupid

I think most of us would have guessed it coming , its very easier this year considering the fact that most of these awards go for cars that are with in the reach of average car buying public (Getz was the only one in this class this year, last two years there were no new launches in this class)

I think Getz will sweep atleast 2 to 3 COTY awards amy be one odd might go to the Fusion , I personally would like to see the Octavia VRS geting atleast the jury award

No surprise.it was meant to be.Nearly all the Hyundai cars have managed to win hearts of the masses.The winner in this particular category is judged by various factors such as FE,Service,Pricing and most importantly Public review.And all these factors did favour the Getz to a major extend.
I myself hate Hyundai.But i sumhow liked the Getz. A perfect city car.

P.s : A Black Getz with dark glasses and Black alloys is doin the rounds of Mumbai.Pls check out that car.Its absolutely adorable.

theres also a really hot silver one with hot alloys and an even hotter viva with 16 or 20 spoke bbs alloys on 16 inchers near my house..
cant take pics as the owners are always near the car in groups with friends so its kinda embarrising to go and ask

Really, this year has not had any interesting new cars beyond the Getz and the Tavera. The Getz defines a new segment and a new euro kind of car for Hyundai and the Tavera is incrmentaly better than its rivals. Innova will put it in its place.

The Fusion has not been aggressively marketed, have only seen one in Bangalore so far - no one is getting excited about it. Never seen a Superb except in the showoom (would make a great hotel taxi under the EPCG scheme).

The best cars to come out are improved derivatives like the E270 D and the Octy VRS


Next year will be fun - new Swift, Matiz, Innova....and more
