I have voted for Shell Super. However am still evaluating.

After they stopped Shell normal
1. I filled one tank full of Shell Super -- Was good exp, super smooth. Mix of city and one ramngr trip I got 17+ economy.
2. Second almostfull tank (distress fill on ORR, before the transport strike) --- for Rs.1000 IOC Xtra premium and my car had issues in acceleration, experienced knocking, when I flored the accelerator there was absolute VOID, I had to slowly pick up pace using the gears without flooring the pedal.
3. Couple of 5 ltr fills from __(don't remember bunk name) Normal Petrol at Bull temple road (rt. opp IndusInd Bank).
4. On 15th , day after hike, Tank full of Shell Super second trial. I might try long distance this weekend to check on economy.

It would be normal or Shell Super (Mysore rd) for City use,
I have always filled at the Reliance pump near Hospet during all my to and fro trips from Bangalore and the one near Hassan.
There is one more pump enroute between Shahpur and Surpur/Shorapur think is form Indian OIL and is best quality.

OT: Any takers for the MP dhaba 30kms before Hospet ? my personal fav.

Shell has not been an option for my truck for quite a while now. Been using IOC Xtramile/regular or HP TurboJet/regular for quite some time.

rjstyles69 : I have shifted to HP and occasionally use IOC. Mileage remains the same and no difference in performance blah blah..
Shell is supposed to be re-branded HP fuel, but with out the adulteration that fuel is susceptible to.

No wonder i didnt feel so much of a difference. In fact, hardly anything, so far. I have switched to HP normal.

With my last fill of 56.65 / lit at Shell, I think I have to Bye Bye it now, that Rs4 difference is hitting the pocket now. Seriously looking out for a permanent change from Shell.

Benny and others, suggession wanted:
1) HP pump, CV Raman nagar (near bagmane tech park / DRDO gate)
2) HP pump, Marathahalli (next to Brand Factory)
3) IOC pump, Marathahalli (on the line with HP pump)
4) IOC pump, Indiranangar (Opp. BDA complex)

Which one is the best?

Abhi

I think i remember kuttapan saying this pump was okie. It would be good if he would confirm. The HP pump near Cosmos mall in Brookfields is the one i have been using, both for car as well as bike. They offer decent service.

I think Shell petrol is from BP refineries, not HP. Filling BP fuel now.

The BP bunk in the Lalbag West Gate circle is very famous with my friends here. The petrol is said to be pure and there is no cheating.
Kaveri Petrol Bunk is its name if I am not wrong.

Has anybody tried there before?

A day back filled it with BP Normal near my Nagarbhavi home which is quiet good since I used this bunk last year for my Innova. I found Shell Super is best for Petrol Innova in terms of FE and performance with smooth engine noise.

I am soon saying bye bye to shell because 56+ is too costly.

I suggest we need to find good bunk it won't matter much if its ICO/BP/HP or anything else.

I am planning to fill BP speed for my Innova next time.

Regards,

Ravi.

I prefer IOC (and preferably COCO outlets - Company Owned Company Operated) as I have found the FE to be best using that on a regular basis. This was especially true for my diesel Indica and I always used to get Premium diesel filled. This was 3 years in Delhi.

Now in Mumbai, I have been trying different ones, and IMO, HPCL is always the worst.

Also, since I hold a Citibank credit card, I prefer IOC pumps as I dont have to pay extra. Next choice would probably be BP

Yes, Shell did stop supplying normal petrol from yesterday (18th of Feb 08) I wanted to fill in yesterday but couldn't and now had to shell out Rs 53.65 Per litre of Shell Super

They say they may never resume normal petrol again. But i think i may still go in for Shell as i prefer automated billing and good service there along with nice performance & FE which shell gives me.

Yes. Shell's cost is a bit too much for me to bear and I am currently experimenting with various fuel stations near my home at Padmanabhanagar. I have not found anything worthwhile in the vicinity yet. DG petrol bunk is another name for adulteration and there is nothing else nearby. I will have to look for something near my office (Richmond Circle) or en route.

I didn't find any difference between normal/premium, Shell/non-Shell. So I stopped using Shell when the price increased. Now I stick to IOC normal from COCO BTM Layout.
