| "Car maker Ford India Pvt. Ltd, the wholly owned unit of American company Ford Motor Co., is gearing up to bring its Fiesta supermini hatchback from Europe into the Indian market with a new marquee, according to vendors familiar with the situation. The car maker is firming up plans to commence production of the car, which it hopes to sell commercially in the country by end-2009, taking on established models in the segment, including brands such as the Getz and the Alto." Picked this up in the online edition of Mint. Full article here: Ford eyes small car segment, may drive Fiesta hatchback into India - livemint

| I have seen this car in some countries where it is also sold under the the fiesta badge...looks slightly boring. I am not sure, how it would survive, when launched late 09, with Grande Punto, new Indica, fabia etc etc already clogging our filled-to-the-brim streets ![]() |

They made the Fusion D fit the "specification " for a small car but didn't pass on the benefits to the customers... Let's hope some sense prevails in Ford atleast this time around. They have been producing Fiesta for a long time now, so much of their tooling needs are already taken care of, and if they use their existing engine then it will help them bring the cost down and hopefully they will those savings on to the customers. | |
