It will be interesting to figure out if Hyundai was waiting for the Captiva launch and then rework their pricing for the Santa Fe. I wonder when they are going to launch it and indicate the price..

Captiva will also lauch another model with AT and Sunroof. That will be priced closed to 20 lacs.

Now the real competition will be - Santa FE vs Captiva vs CRV for now.

Lets see what does Mitsubishi Outlander has in store for us? Time will tell.

Absolutely correct, I must say that I'm bloody disappointed with the price, considering that it doesn't even have AWD!

I beg to differ. The CR-V has opened up an all new luxury segment market, the captiva offers economy and luxury, its sure to be a success. Not only will it be more fun to drive than the CR-V but also more economical.

Any idea when that Automatic+ sunroof version of the captiva is coming in?

GM just lost their trump card a diesel SUV with AWD competitively priced.

Honda has taken the game back even before GM has started with the 2.0L 2WD CR-V available nearly Rs.60,000 cheaper than the Captiva.

Hyundai will soon join the bandwagon with the Santa-Fe and I'm sure they will have the 4WD model shown at auto-expo.

Why do you say it will be more fun to drive? The CRV is an incredibly well-balanced soft roader.

Didn't see any pics in Steer's collection & he focussed pretty extensively on the Hyundai stall

Dead right Vid, didn't look at this one closely! Wasn't the Santa Fe a 7 seater?

From the reviews I have seen online Captiva is bad handler with too much body roll. Products like the Vitara, Santa Fe and CRV are superior in terms of handling and probably better than the Captiva on other fronts too but that could be my ignorance, I read about the RAV4. CRV, Vitara and Santa Fe regularly on auto sites and forums but haven't heard much about Captiva. Pricing should have been its USP, but alas not to be.

I have driven the 2.4 CR-V and did not find it exciting, performance was similar if not less than my 2.3L accord. The torque would definitely add the oomph to the Captiva's drive, but i guess only a test drive will make a fair judgement over the specs and handling.

Yup it is indeed a 7 seater. I remember seeing it at the Mumbai Autocar performance show.

Here's a pic from the hyundai Europe site:
