Default Chevy Spark @ 2.89 lacs. With air-con! Now 2.66

Has there been another price cut on the Spark? A full-page ad in the Times / M Mirror today claims a 2.89 lac ex-showroom tag for the base variant + air-con.

If so, it is welcome and will give a sales boost to an otherwise competent hatch. But why does GM always have to act over-confident, only to correct prices later? With their initial pricing, they could not even move 2,000 cars per month. What do so many price cuts do to the brand equity or market reputation?

I dont know why they do this, i guess they are just plain stupid.
I mean, most o thier cars (Spark,Optra,Uva) are very competent and strongly built cars which could even become segment leaders if not for this pricing idiotacy.

Before the i10 came out, i had driven a friends Spark and was mighty impressed by the build and driving of such a small car. I mean, i had driven a santro and loved it but the Spark felt so much more strong, safe and sturdy, kinda like a small car version of an astra.

Though it did quite ok, i think that if they had priced it right, they would have done very well before the launch of the i10.

Wow! Yeah right, like how a term called rubberband effect exists, a new term should be entered, called Nano effect.

Hey,even with this price cut, they don't have big production numbers to keep up with the demand isn't it?

Already many customers are feeling betrayed for buying the GM cars before price cut. The image of the company will definately take a hit. Nobody will buy their cars when it is launched. They will wait for some time and then they decide if they want to buy the GM cars.

I don't know why American cos always fail to read the market regarding the pricing Or rather are they doing wantedly?

Default It is the ex showroom price

on inquiry it was clarified that it is the base price , and one would need to pay road tax registration , insurance etc. still the price given during Deewali offer was about 10K cheaper.
I would be interested to know the comments regarding spark performance from the people who own this car for now quite sometime.

What would be the on-road price for this car in Mumbai?

TOI as talks about Delhi prices and it is not clear if it is Ex-showroom or On road or dealer price.

I wish GM would keep a steady low price instead of cutting it for a few days, increasing it, then again cutting it! makes a bad impression in the minds of the customers and could also affect resale as people will think its a failure model!

Well, guys let's not be so harsh. I think they are learning from their mistakes. But i hope they do not repeat any mistakes like this. It might prove too expensive for them.
Hope Hyundai also learns from this and starts pricing their products more realistically.

Learn When? After everything is over and during the time they go bankrupt. Now, Hyundai is following the suit. And they are talking of 1 Lac car?
