2008 New Honda City

After forwarding this thread to my colleague he cancelled booking for his Honda city VTEC + , he suppose to take the delivery on coming Monday
Here is the story
He called up the Dealer to ask the same, they said they don’t have any update on this and not expecting a new Honda city for next 1 year
Then he asked them to give it on writing, they refused to do so .
He cancelled the booking. Did I do anything wrong ?

I dont think you did anything wrong. But if Honda delays the launch of City you might be in some trouble buddy. Kidding. Well everyone is just waiting for the City. Just hope around Diwali it should hit Indian shores.

After doing through various sites , earlier honda strategies for new model launches and ofcourse inputs from various t-bhpn's Here is my personal guess ..

The new city will have

1) cockpit interiors similar to (of course not exactly same) civic jazz etc etc

2) Will be little bigger in dimension

3) May have i-vtec in for both the versions (idsi - 1.3ivtec , vtec , -1.5 ivtec)

4) ABS airbags in all the versions.

5) may not have alloys , body color handles etc etc as standard ( other wise how can they spice up the same model in coming years ?)

Now only bad thing is

All this will come up with a price increase.

So if the price increase is by 50k for idsi , 60-70k for vtec (w/o leather interiors)

1) w.r.t current i-dsi , you are getting new engine + abs ,airbags at additional 50k

The buyers of current city will not lose much during their resell till 2011 as they have paid 50 k less . So old buyers + new buyers will be happy

2) w.r.t current vtec , you are getting new ivtec engine + abs ,airbags at additional 70k

The buyers of current vtec city will not lose much during their resell till 2011 as they have paid 70 k less . So old buyers + new buyers will be happy

Of course this is my guess.

but the ultimate question still remains unanswered which is - when it is getting launched ?

I had joined a forum in teamcity which has all the honda city fans. Even they dont have any concrete info on exact period of launch. But most of them expect it to be launched around July- August in Thailand.

Well I came to this conclusion after doing full 1 month R & D about this on Google + 3 honda delears in pune + 2 in mumbai + lot of help from tbhpans + history of honda model launches in india and worldwide

Of course there is no official news about this.

I am planning to buy NHC/ NNHC so was searching like mad about launch of NNHC.

Finally going ahead and buying current NHC and already placed my order.


On top of this if NNHC launches before sept/ oct 08 , it's my bad luck.

but could not find much, noticed that Accord was launched on 25th April

I am getting old

Saw a TV program today in "Headlines Today" , they were comparing SX4 and NHC. As per them N(?) HC release has been postponded to 2009

I think the NHC is scheduled to be launched at the end of this year. I was reading ACI where the Editor mentions the same. Usually ACI is true on launch dates.

I think it is going to be more of a facelift and not a huge change.
