The Accent CRDi is no longer in production.

Hi backseatdriver, the old Accent CRDi is phased out, and the verna CRDi is out of babu budget so as of now you should probably look at Tata Indigo. But for sheer babu snob value i guess u should stick on to the mighty Amby.

totally agree with you??
as it is there is no control on the running of these cars, so it would be better if it is a diesel engine...at least they save on the fuel costs!!!

I can only guess the number of suitcases full of cash that must have changed hands to arrive at this purchase decision.

Well, in Bangalore, 20 or so Corolla's were ordered for High Court judges but 23 were delivered. Nobody traced the three which were obviously the fleet freebie

erm.. I wasnt actually replying to ur post, but to the subject of this thread. So dont worry.. Honda rules.. or atleast those who rule over us, want to buy one!!

I wasnt being negative at all. If there can be irregularities in purchasing coffins for dead soldiers who fought the Kargil war, do you think pocketing some % while purchasing a govt vehicle will prick their consience??

It makes me laugh.

Honda Civic is very fine, and I'd be happy to drive one, but for a judge? Should be a Mercedes. Even an Accord, but not a Civic*.

Still, looking on the bright side, at least they didn't make it a Skoda ---or that coming-sometime-soon premium car, The Fiat 500!

*Anyway, as a matter of principle, I believe Indian Government should buy Indian manufacture.

I agree. I feel sorry for desi satraps. Unlike their counterparts in the US, who travel in Lincoln and Cadillac limousines, these have to make do with a frumpy lump of tin(Amby) , or a hand-me-down Accent or something seedy. Sad.

Yeah, that's standard practice. Instead of cash excess car(s) are delivered to the babu in charge of the ordering & payment. Where they go, how they are registered etc. are not known.

Swifts, Lancers and Civics are boy racer cars. Youngsters seem to pick these cars predominantly, depending on their budget. Customisation is done mostly around these cars. Skirts, spoilers, neons, angel eye lamps, subs etc are things that we generally associate with these three cars. Not the Honourable Judges. An executive / luxury sedan like Accord / Merc / BMW would be more apt for them. Civics are for their sons.

How a phased out car is chosen as Babu Car?
Do they don't think of availability of spares and other factor?
