| The Ford Endeavour is the first premium SUV is India to be powered with next-generation 3.0L Turbo-Diesel Common rail Injection (TDCi) power plant delivering the highest power, best in class torque, cleaner emissions and excellent fuel economy. Exceptional performance, superb low-rev torque, rapid engine response and impressive fuel efficiency are some of the key features customers will appreciate from Ford's new 3.0L TDCi diesel technology packaged in the Endeavour. The new 16-valve DOHC 3.0-litre TDCi engine offers class-leading torque, with peak torque of 380 Newton-metres available at 2500rpm leaving competition miles behind. Also the new 3.0L TDCi power plant delivers peak power of 156 PS at just 3200 rpm, and being the far ahead of players in the segment. Significant characteristics from Ford's TDCi four-cylinder engines: • Increased power and torque • Rapid engine response • Strong performance from idle • Quick turbocharger response • Smooth acceleration • Improved fuel efficiency • Fewer emissions • Reduced noise and vibration levels • Quicker Acceleration For the customers, Ford's TDCi engine range represents a fantastic package; more power, more performance and more economy. Greater power and performance are achieved by the fuel being injected directly into the combustion chamber multiple times per cycle under extremely high pressure (1600 bar) from a common-rail pump. The technology ensures the best possible mixture of fuel and air in the cylinders, resulting in efficient combustion for high torque and excellent fuel economy while also reducing engine noise and vibration. Combined with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) that reduces turbo lag, the system increases power and torque across a wider engine rev range, ideal for powerful acceleration, carting heavy loads and negotiating treacherous off-road conditions. The key technologies involved in these engines are: • High-pressure common-rail fuel injection – up to 1600 bar for optimum injection pressures during all engine speeds and loads with improved power, torque, fuel efficiency, emissions, noise and vibration. • Direct Injection – injects fuel directly in the combustion chamber to provide more efficient combustion, more power and torque, better fuel efficiency and cleaner emissions. • Double overhead camshafts with four valves per cylinder – with four valves per cylinder, the TDCi diesel engines breathe more efficiently to deliver better power and torque. • Variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) – the design greatly reduces turbo lag and broadens the torque curve for rapid engine response. VGT does this by providing higher gas flow speed, which allows the turbocharger to provide boost more effectively across a wider engine rev range. • Closed-loop exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) with cooler – reduces emissions. • High-output microprocessor – provides sophisticated control of engine variables under all driving and climatic conditions. The engine program control module (PCM) has a self-diagnostic function and the software can be updated without replacing the PCM. • Intake manifold with swirl control valve – delivers improved efficiency and reduces harmful emissions by improving the combustion process. • Roller finger follower – reduces parasitic loss by reducing valve train friction. In turn, the engine runs more efficiently and delivers better performance and fuel efficiency. • Dual counter-rotating balance shafts – for reduced engine vibrations. This is a key feature to a large capacity four-cylinder engine such as the 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre TDCi. • Fuel Economy and Emissions - Despite its bigger capacity and associated increase in performance, the fuel-efficiency of the 3.0-litre engine promises to be at par with the 2.5L TDCi. • More Power & Torque - High torque and superior performance in all driving conditions are the keys for development of the new TDCi engine. The engine technology is developed specifically to enhance the high-torque characteristics. |

| Senior - BHPian | Thanks StarScream. Nice report. Got any pics? You say that this has been announced.. have they fixed any launch date? 18+ ex-showroom. Hmm. Its in the CRV territory! But being a diesel and a serious off roader the price could be justified.

| What about the environment ? Suffering set backs in the states and europe for their 'fuel guzzlers' these companies want to make it up by selling them here. Guess our govt should also introduce higher insurance and tax bands for these vehicles. PS |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Guys, the one big gripe about the Endeavour has been the middle row comfort or, rather, the lack of it! I don't see that being addressed even in this model. Because, the basic ladder on frame remains unchanged

| Good value for money at that price, middle-row seating and ride comfort issues notwithstanding.
