I'm sure. most of us would do better than him given such cars and tracks!

superb build quality.
Have changed brake pads only once,
clutch still in good condition,
engine never opened,
serviced once every 10,000 kms,
engine oil/oil filter/air filter changed every 5000kms,
second battery,
third set of tyres & alloys changed recently (tyres last around 40-50k kms if you do tyre rotation, wheel banacing & alingment every 5k kms)
The car has never broken down even once in its whole life time.

And when it comes to long trips...,
the car has done:
Bangalore-Tirupati-Bangalore every month(around 60 trips in 5 years)
Bangalore-Sabarimala-Bangalore twice a year(around 12 trips + 2 Makarajyoti trips)
Bangalore-Mumbai-Rajastan-Amritsar-Chandigarh-Delhi-Shimla-Varanasi-Hyderabad-Bangalore-a really long trip lasting around a month.
Bangalore-every well known & not so well known hot spots in South India.Kodaikanal, Ooty, Hyderabad, Coastal karnataka, Goa, Kanyakumari, Kerala, Pondy, Vizag, Velankanni, navagraha temple circuit, Yanam, Mahe, Tamil nadu etc
Never has the car given me any trouble

& I'm sure it will run another lakh kms without any problem.

If this is not a good quality car, I dont know what is...,

My average service bill every 10k kms is around Rs.1800-2200, so maintainance is reasonable cheap.
Now you guys tell me in what way are korean cars inferior to japanese cars.
are you a taxi driver ? .... dude thats a lot of driving...

Something about Hyundai, that has already been posted on another thread.

Posting again here for better reference.

According to a few owners, some of whom live in our apartment, they do make the right noises about warranty while marketing. But in the event of something going wrong, they try to find their way out of acknowledging those. A 2005 car owner says Hyundai had the tenacity of telling him that his transmission was cooked because of wrong driving style. When that laid-off former employee of a multinational have never had transmission problems with any of his previous cars. He doesn't have the money, so repairs his 2004 car himself.

The topic here is Japanese Vs. Korean. The way the discussion is proceeding, the topic should be "Japanese vs. Korean cars in India". Because the fact of the matter is, considering Maruti Suzuki as a Japanese company is a mistake- because apart from sharing some archaic engines from its Japanese concern-- there is hardly anything common in the way they are built, from the cars sold by them in Japan or US and Europe for that matter. Apart from the Swift, every other product in their portfolio is either made for third world countries (SX4 sedan), or was sold donkeys year ago in Japan (Zen, Alto, Wagon R).

Coming to Honda, which overprices its products in India- for the sole reason that they will sell irrespective of what they look like or perform like (case in point the City). What did all of us think when they bought in the new City (Fit Aria in Thailand) in 2003 to replace the OHC??? Honda screwed it up. But they knew they wouldn't. The sales of the NHC are a testament to that. And the fact is getting a modern consumer to pay for an overpriced product isn't easy- Honda has built the bulletproof reputation over the relatively short time they have been here, inspite of not having a product in the mass-volumes segment (small cars) unlike Maruti and Hyundai which started out with bread and butter small cars.

Comparing Hyundai (only reason being it is the only Korean manufacturer in India) to Japanese ones (in India again) is baseless- because we wouldn't get the whole picture (portfolio-wise). But still anyone who has driven a NHC and an Accent or an Embera and an Accord will surely be able to judge why Japanese cars are considered superior to Korean ones. Japanese cars weren't born with this reputation- it has taken them a good 50 years to get here. Koreans are relatively new to the game and will take a long time to reach where the Japs are, but by the time they get there, Japs would have already stepped the game up several levels.

To conclude my long boring post for those who have read it, it isn't without reason that Korean manufacturers are nowhere on the international (or regional) motorsports map- be it numero unos like- F1, WRC, WTTC or lower rungs like- BTCC, Super GT, F3, Indy, NASCAR, Le Mans, D1 etc. etc....

Quite a long list of issues in this link and some of them are pretty serious too. Not sure how genuine they are, but after reading this, it would be tough for someone to go for a Hyundai.
