Default It is almost official, outlander at 20 lacs

Looks like the outlander is going to be priced at 20 lacs.
This is what report on economictimes says ' The company's other car brand, Mitsubishi Outlander, would be launched from its Chennai plant, Birla said, adding that it would be placed in the premium category and priced at around Rs 20 lakh. '

If it is 20-21, I hope it would be a replacement or competiton to their own model - Pajero, which is doing well recently.

If the price is low, again it may cut the sales of Pajero even more.

Endeavour, CRV, Captiva etc do not have to fear if this price is true!

People who want to buy Pajero and Endeavour, won't worry about CRV, Outlander and Captiva. If the price of Outlander is low (which is unlikely after reading the newspaper article), it will have no impact whatsoever on Pajero.

Sot some more information. Look at the line in the bold. This states that the Outlander will be out by October or November. But the cost is a bit high. Only if HM could bring in kits in CKD, then its sure to give CRV the competetion it never had. With this price, I am sure most of the car buying public in Rs20 lakh segment will be heading towards Honda showroom for the CRV.

Hindustan Motors Ltd (HM) will launch a small commercial vehicle in October this year. The vehicle, for which field tests are currently on, will be manufactured at the companys Uttarpara factory, its Chairman, Mr C.K. Birla, said at the companys annual general meeting held here today.
During the ensuing festive season, HM will also launch the high-end Outlander vehicle from the Mitsubishi stable. It will be priced at around Rs 20 lakh.
Mr Birla said the companys auto components business was a major thrust area and had emerged as a major revenue earner for the company. He said the company was taking steps to cut costs as prices of key inputs and energy costs had gone up lately.
During the year ended March 31,2008, HM has posted a higher net profit of Rs 30.84 crore, against Rs 13.30 crore in in 2006-07. The company notched a total income of Rs 677.89 crore in 2007-08, against Rs 635.34 crore in 2006-07.
