Indigo and Dzire might be commercial sucess but these cars look real bad,how can you even think about alto sedan?did the idea of making a sedan out of zen estilo come to your mind?

I've always found the Esteem to be the sedan version of the Zen/Alto. If you park the Esteem alongside the Alto, you'll discover that the dimensions aren't very different. Fix a boot to these hatches and you get the Esteem! The internal space is also very comparable! The kerb weight is also comparable!

MUL has already pulled this trick on us

IMO, the Alto is best as a hatchback. Attempting to add a boot to it and make it a sedan will not yield the desired results. It is too puny a car to be converted to a sedan and will look like a miniature version, if done so.

Whats with guys trying to add a butt to all vehicles?
First killing a car like swift adding a butt and now asking alto to get a butt. Its time alto retired and they launch astar or something similar and one more thing as a hatch

Would love to have a 1.1 ltr engine and boot on my Alto...

I think it will look as bad as it gets, but I will pay for it if its available.

O hell no! I hope they are not listening. The Dzire looks ugly enough and makes even the NHC look good. The boot in that clearly looks like as if someone attached that thing as an after-thought!

Mods! I suggest we lock this thread and hide it somewhere before the Maruti guys see it . If at all they make a model with a boot, I know what they would say - It was being planned even before the alto was launched in India! (just what they said for Swift Dzire)

Me too. I concur with all the views of vkochar.
If at all they want to make Alto a sedan, then they've got to pop in the 1.1 vxi engine.

Perhaps they would call it Alto Satire

The way all hatches are being converted to Sedans. Looks to me that it is an easy way to garner more sales for the manafacturers and also probably to increase the shelf life of these brands.
Don't be surprised if Maruti 800 Sedan is around the corner

Our sheer fetish for a 3 box car makes almost all the manufacturers think of converting their normally good looking car into an odd looking beast. However IMO the Indigo CS looks a notch better than the Indigo. However the car looks horrible when viewed from the side, with the boot looking completely out of place.
Slightly off-topic: Why not start a poll and know how many ppl owning sedans actually use their boot on a daily/weekly/monthly/rarely basis. Could serve to be an eye-opener for all.
