What is with all the mystery over the introduction of the new Corolla?. Why doesn't Toyota make it's intentions clear in the Indian auto market?. Will they or won't they?. How difficult will it be to give the Innova a facelift?. What are they waiting for?. Everything is a big question mark and if. Please!.

It just seems that they are milking the demand for Innova Currently. They would give it a facelift, sometime when the Ingenio is launched or somewhere about that time.

Hope this makes sense

The initial reports on Corolla's outer design aren't exciting. It can not compete with Civic with this new product. It has more competition in its segment. Optra magnum and Cedia are already doing well with lower price tags while, there is Laura and Jetta are priced around Corolla's.

I hope Honda is going much higher in designing than Toyota, with every new product they launch. Toyota have only its somber Innova and Corolla. If Honda comes with anything like an Odyssey, it will ceratinly beat Innova.

Toyota should come up with more prodcuts to make its Indian market happy, they have a good sales and support base now. All they need is quick investments.

I hope everyone here knows what is going to happen when corolla is going to be launched here ?

Like every where else people will start buying it for no particular reason at all ,except for the reason that it's a Toyota corolla and 33 million other people are driving it.

Most people who have been to Bangkok,Singapore etc and also Dubai,Qatar etc will know that the sales of corolla haven't fallen behind even though the civic and many other sensible options are available there.

Yes, I think so, at least that is what they have launched in the other south east asian countries. Also, see this link Toyota to launch new Corolla altis in India in September at Straight Frm The Heart
"The 2008 corolla Altis will be 10mm longer, 60mm wider and 20mm lower than the current model. The wheelbase will be unchanged at 2,600mm, but with the wider track and lower center of gravity the handling should be noticeably improved. The extra width should also improve cabin space, and although slightly lower, the Altis is still 50mm taller than the Civic. The new corolla altis will be powered by a 1.8L engine developing around 140bhp"

Well, we will see how much of this is true and how much is rumour!

Corolla is not necessarily an enthusiast's dream and it normally appeals to the more "sensible" people, so your usage of words was interesting.

The car will be on display at dealerships on 23rd & 24th, where we can have a look; not sure if we would get to drive it .

Just got an invite from the Chennai dealer for the viewing.

Th official launch is on 5th as the teaser says; probably the pricing would be disclosed then.
