I hope they dont remove the ABS & AirBags from the list.

the news is confirmed, the quoted price may be accurate.
i have seen the car. following are the features that have been removed over the S model:

alloy wheels
chrome door handles and chrome strip on side beading
6-cd changer(single cd mp3/wma/aux-in retained.
abs and dual airbags retained.

Exactly. Nice price.
Blunt 15'' alloys, chrome et al and a cd changer ain't needed!
Maybe going the Toyota way, trying to rev-up the sales before launching the new Civic? Well, maybe!

Sweet! I couldn't care less about the factory fitted alloy wheels anyways. Ditto for the extra chrome.

As long as ABS & airbags are retained, prospective buyers should be happy. Smart thinking by Honda.

this is good news, hopefully the general trend going forward where ABS/Airbags are not the first omissions.

this deserves a new thread?

I second this. I'd better fit my own choice of alloys rather than paying extra for company fitted ones. Same goes for the ICE too. Great move by Honda. Any idea what exactly is the price difference between E and V now ?

I finally got to see the 1.8E.
Ok, I am a bit disappointed with two major omissions in the car:-
-Lack of Climate Control
-Lack of Audio Controls on the Rear Seat Armrest

Apart from that, the following things have been removed from the 1.8S to create the the 1.8E:-
-No Alloy Wheels
-No Retractable ORVMs
-Nothing written at the back, no 1.8E, its just CIVIC, iVtec.
-Apart from this, a lot of chrome stuff is missing, like door handles are body color etc.

Ok, here is the pic of the wheel.

Guys, I can live without chrome n leather, but climate control and rear audio controls (without a remote control) will be a big inconvenience if i m on the rear seats.

Awesome. That makes it lil easier for people dreaming to buy a Civic.
Guess Honda has already got a plan to compete the New Corolla.
Toyota watch out!

Oh, never thought that Honda would come up with an " E " model for civic at the cost such that Cedia and Corolla will be affected.
Toyota better watch out for this.

Come on Honda! Everything else is fine but A car in the 5-6 lacs (example swift ZXi) has auto climate control. How can the new CIVIC 1.8E miss this feature out when we will be paying more than 10 lacs for it.

10.6L ex-showroom Gurgaon eh? How much was it for the 1.8S?

IIRC, Kolkata ex-showroom for 1.8S used to be around 11.1 L

So a reduction of price by 50-60K equates to a reduction of
- alloys
- climate control
- 6CD to 1CD
- no electrically retractable mirrors
- no chrome trim
- no audio controls on rear seat
- anything else we are missing? Are they giving the same tyres?

Is that really 50-60K worth of OEM Honda equipment? Or more?

Looks like Honda will make a neat packet by reducing the price somewhat, but taking out features worth more than that. Customer happy, Honda happy.

its stupid alright. this is only good news for people who are in taxi business and also those who want to say i own a CIVIC. the rest are still going to buy the V spec all the way. i dont see the point buying a 10 lak plus car and missing out on climate control and stuff. i dont know why in india all car manufacturers are so cheap. v spec all the way.

One question thought. Will they be offering the E version with automatic transmission or atleast give the option?
