Well I drive through Thippasandra daily while commuting from Koramangla to C.V RamanNagar.

It is easier to do in Safari then in small car becuase people give way without much honking.
Do not get the bumpers of LX painted if you are worried about scrapping.

AC is quite effective as effective as it can be in any other vehcile but if you compare with EX definately you have one coil less.
Apart from rear AC Coil there is not a good enough reason to buy EX 4X2.
If you are looking for 4X4 it is different story.

Muke - Go with the Safari GX instead of LX or EX.

Muke & Tsk - My brother travels to Electronic City on daily basis in the Safari and he is 20mins faster than travellling in the Esteem and he loves to take the Safari daily to his office.
In a way it saves his time and the extra cost on the fuel.

Well, New Thippasandra Main Road (which you probably take to reach C V Raman Nagar) is not quite the same as the back lanes tsk is referring to.

My take: the Safari is my daily drive and while I generally have no issues, the dimensions and the supertanker turning radius can sometimes get annoying in narrow places. Bumping your blood pressure up a few notches are the idiotic bikers who try to squeeze in when you're trying to get a ship to change direction.

On the EX vs. LX debate, the EX has features that are useful (each in its own way)
1. Height adjustable driver's seat - while I don't use this feature, some others may find it useful
2. Rear A/C - a separate unit with its own set of coils
3. Rear Defogger + Heated ORVMs - the ORVMs heat up when the rear defogger is switched on. Extremely useful in the rain.
4. Engine Immobilizer
5. Front & rear fog lamps
6. Electrically operated remote fuel flap
7. OE music system - I found this useful as it saved me the headache of buying something outside.
8. The clock on the dashboard!

One might argue that some of these are cheaper (and better, esp. ICE) outside but factory fit is factory fit. If you can afford it, go for the GX.

I drive daily to my office (20 kms one way) on some of the most crowded roads of Hyderabad. It is a 45 mins commute oneway. No issues, just lov the way it effortlessly breezes through the traffic.

This safari thread is very much TEMPTING to go for Safari, i currently own Esteem and it is 4yrs old now doing no trouble duty and but wants to take a decision on owning 2.2 VTT LX.

I am looking for driving this everyday to my office and occasional highway drive(once in two months-700-900 KMS), my Worry is how easy is driving this beast within city for daily usage and in Bangalore traffic?

I like to hear from bhp'ians who are actually using it on daily basis especially in cities having high traffic flow.

Faster than a small car in city too for me

Parking can be a problem sometimes but you can use the footpath/ramp etc.

Are you sure the ORVM's heat up once you switch ON the rear defogger.

If its so its a new discovery to me

Yes, the ORVMs are heated when you switch on rear defrogger. Have observed this in the winters

, thats a great point you've mentioned about the fused glass in the ORVM. and it suits point (5) for this thread discussion. And most of us did not know about this feature
