I don't know if this has been mentioned in this thread before but I recently met somebody who works with Honda and he told me that in the new city airbags and abs would be standard across all models.

If that is the case it's great to see a manufacturer giving importance to safety something that is really neglected, at least here in India.

As, if we didnt have enough of the old and the new selling simultaneously already!

Bring it on Honda.

Maybe they`ll call the new one URBAN, so it`ll fit in between City and Civic!
It's quite revolting, and the Indian consumer is really taken for a ride. No country in the West sees this behaviour of trying to flog the old model simultaneously with the new, and pricing the newer ones at a premium. The Government can do one simple thing to stop this nonsense - bring down import tariffs on cars, and see how the local producers will immediately flood us with ABS, EBD, rear disc brakes, etc, even in their base models.

Default NHC-VTEC model discontinued, Dealer confirms new City coming soon.

Hi Guys
I went to Classic Honda in Faridabad yesterday.
To my surprise the NHC-VTEC model has been discontinued.
Only the NHC-VTEC Plus is available on demand. This is the one with ABS and airbags.
He confirmed that a new model is coming soon, but was not sure about the date.
He said that the newer model would have the VTEC engine, though the current IDSI would continue in the existing NHC alongside.
NHC-IDSI costs around 7.8 lacs in Faridabad- on road. He said the coming city would be in the range of 9.5 lacs.
Actually he was tempting me to buy the NHC-ZX(IDSI) by offering freebies and discounts. But I don't want to be the one driving a generation old car in 6 months if Honda comes out with the the new City soon.

All engines are iVTEC. 122 BHP (I got info that it will be 140 BHP, which I doubt).

Pricing will be between 8.5L and 10L. I have info that price could be lower but I have my doubts.

As I said the base model will be launched in December.

ABS, Airbags etc the works - it will be fully loaded.

The NHC is dis-continued.

Don't ask me more.

Though I doubt it. But Honda needs to price the New City well, so that it doesn't encroach into the Civic category. I hope they learn a lesson from the Dzire-SX4 story. Anyways in India, foreign manufacturers always tend to go wrong on the pricing. Or atleast we think so.

But yes! 122 BHP sounds tempting!! And December looks a tad far off! The Corolla has a good chance here!
