I did a dumb mistake of using my SCB Platinum at Shell, just because the attendant said there is no surcharge. I learnt the hard way. The surcharge waiver is controlled by the credit card company.

2.) What is the difference between Euro III and Euro IV petrol?? Petrol is sold by octane rating and then some special petrol by adding some aditives. What is this Euro IV and III?????

As per the Shell pump guys, there is some extra aditives in Euro IV petrol.

I could not find any difference between the two as both petrol were on different vehicles.

Hope some one has an answer.
We actually call it BS III and BS IV. Both BS III and BS IV are 91 octane. From what I understand BS IV is 'cleaner' in terms of emissions that a BS IV compliant car would produce while running on it as against when running on BS III fuel. BS IV is fuel is sold in 13 major cities while rest of the country gets BS III fuel. Petrol prices were raised by Rs. 0.50 when BS IV norms were implemented in these 13 major cities. Now how 'city limits' are defined I do not know. Also the taxes on fuel in Bangalore city are higher than other places in the state. (SOme extra cess is added here)

Wow! I didn't know this. Do they specifically ask you for BS4 or BS3? In my past two years of 'good' experience with Shell... I was never asked so. They always do try and sell their Super Unleaded which I politely refuse.

The different pricing is in different petrol pumps. Vittal Mallya road, Bellary road, Yelahanka have the higher prices which is Bharat IV I guess.
Kanakapura, Kundalahalli have the Bharat III, which is priced one rupee lower.
Ive not come across them offering an option at the same pump as of now.

There are no options. Generally, metros are required to use only BS-4 Fuel and other areas BS-3 with a transition at a later date to BS-4. However i still dont understand why Kanakpura and Kundanahalli supply BS-3 fuel considering Jakkur Shell sells BS-4.

Jakkur falls under Bangalore city limits where as the other two bunks metioned do not. Hence BS-4 and not BS-3.

No i fuelled a week back in Shell @ Bellary Road. it was 76.95. So i wanted to know if it has been reduced to 75.95 or is it just BS-3 Fuel which is sold in select pumps around the outskirts of Bangalore @ 1Re less than the normal BS-4 fuel.

74.50/- for regular unleaded at Shell Hinjewadi (Super is 77). Totally worth it since the BP rate is 73.xx and the city rate is 2 rupees higher.

Filled up today at the OMR Shell outlet. The prices have shot up to 79 change. for normal petrol and 82 change for Super Unleaded. Wonder why! I asked the bunk manager. He said that the govt. has cut subsidies for Shell.
The Shell Fuel pricing website still shows the following rates:

Bangalore - BS IV Normal 76.95 Premium 80.05
Bangalore - BS III Normal 75.95 Premium 78.95

Hurts the wallet!
