This price after the rate cut or before? I guess Shell will reduce the price by approx 5rs to keep up with the PSUs..

Is this some kind of official diktat issued by the govt?

May not be that is "allowed to" but it can not "afford to"
Because Shell procures Petrol and diesel from MRPL just like other OMCs. So it need to make some margin. When that price was high, shell was also selling at higher price, whereas for PSU OMCs the losses were subsidized by Govt.

Guys does normal unleaded Shell have any difference in mileage? Although it is 50 ps more than PSU petrol, is the mileage really different or is it felt only with Shell Super?

Paying little extra at Shell, IMHO, gives you peace of mind that the quantity gone inside the car is not less than what is shown in the meter.
Also, You can get your windshield cleaned and free air check-up which is almost non-existent in PSU pumps!

^^^One IOC pump here does clean your windshield. I think the BP COCO I usually go to also does the same. I guess they have started copying Shell... But the catch is that these guys only do this if you go in the daytime. Whereas Shell does it anytime.

Hey, i've been using the indian oil bunks for the last months since i got my car and the FE was at 13-14 max. The last 3 fills with Shell Unleaded (not the Super Unleaded) got me 15.7xx consistently. My car is a Zen Lx 2001 and figures i'm getting now with all the spirited driving looking yummie

I am planning on putting the Super Unleaded now that its new price (51.75-bangalore) is close to the Unleaded (standard) price before the price drop.
Lets see if i better the numbers.

Yes, Shell was the first to show what a customer service means to other PSU oil pumps.

Btw, the HP near cosmos does the same thing now. Windshield clean, and the air. When I gave money to the guy who filled air, he refused it . Yes.

Only thing currently missing in this pump is, free engine oil check available in Shell pumps.

its not just service, or about the quantity alone. It is also about the quality of fuel, ie not adulterated due to better quality checks.
